Digital Man
QUOTE (Gilbertk @ Oct 12 2010, 11:01 AM) QUOTE (Digital Man @ Oct 11 2010, 08:02 AM) QUOTE (RushNut @ Oct 11 2010, 08:45 AM) There's a story behind the duck clap thing. Yeah there is a story, Neil talks about it in one of his books. They call it Happy Hands. Do tell! I can't remember the story, I just remember reading about it. I think it was in Roadshow though
GuitarPlyr01
Uh, "Pacman"? At least that's what I was told it was. Or at least what it was based on when it started. It's been a thing since like the 80s. Can't believe no one else mentioned it so far.
Show Don't Tell
I always thought it was resembling the hands of the salesmen and producers, etc. a la "penny pinching". I think I saw him do a motion once as if he was rubbing a bill in his hand.
TheBluePhoenix
I like the duck flap motion. It's goofy and fun. Think how cool it must look from the stage with thousands of people making the same motion in unison.
MCM
I don't know when it started, why it started, but the clapping and "chicken dance" motion are one of my favorite parts of a show.. it's just funny that after all these years everyone knows exactly what to do there. CMWriter
I don't know why he does what he does, but I don't care, and I didn't care at the concert. =P I clapped my heart out along and I got this epic rush when everyone around was clapping too. By the end of the night my ears were ringing (and continued to ring for the next 16-20 hours) and my throat was raw for two days. But it was so worth it. I could go somewhere with that, but I'll refrain... I was thinking the same thing, Maiden..(!)
