If they put up 50 against the Bears, and 50 against the Eagles, they should be able to put up 70+ against the Vikings.... only worry is looking ahead to NE, and playing a MIN team that has nothing to lose right now.

You really think the Vikings D is any worse than the Eagles or Bears? The Eagles maybe but the Bears are historically bad.

The Vikings' defense is respectable. They've only been blown out by the Patriots and Packers.

Vikings are ranked 12th overall. (Total yards allowed)

Da Bears are 19th

The Packers are 25th

The Eagles are 26th

Scoring defense:

Vikings - 14th

Packers - 17th

Eagles - 20th

Bears - 32nd

A genuine recruitment letter from the Packers, sent to Lawrence Apitz of Chicago in 1928. As there was no NFL draft back then, recruiting players was a free-for-all.... :o

Mr. Apitz respectfully declined.....

Fighting off illness as well as a determined Viking defense, the Packers' running back extraordinaire EDDIE LACY put the team on his shoulders and carried them to a hard-fought road victory.

The Vikings quickly squashed any thought of the Packers scoring 50 points for a third straight week. Tough press coverage on Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb made life tough for Aaron Rodgers and his pass-happy offense. Viking quarterback Teddy Bridgewater gave the Packers fits with some clutch plays, but his inexperience and inaccuracy also led to critical mistakes. Nevertheless, the Vikings gave the Packers all they could handle.

The Packers prefer to win via a blitzkreig passing attack, but they proved today that they can also win a tough, defensive game via clutch passes and especially via the human wrecking ball that is EDDIE LACY. Running the ball, catching the ball, making defenders pay for daring to get in his way, Lacy could be the Packers' ticket to the Super Bowl!

Uh, oh. Rodgers is on the purple drank, and is even quite brazen about it. Are Jamarcus like performances in his future?

Definitely so. Just like Tom Brady, Rodgers is all done. ;)

Nice win. Great offensive line play and a huge play near the end of the first half to overcome some bad clock management by McCarthy.

Congrats to the Pack!

Packers 26

Patriots 21

http://media.jrn.com/images/440*293/brady113014.jpg

Packer defenders Mike Neal and Mike Daniels put the kibosh on Tom Brady's bid to upset the Packers late in the 4th quarter. The much-needed sack (more like a sandwich) forced a field goal attempt, which was missed....to the very loud enjoyment of about 80,000 Packer fans.

In a tough, TOUGH game between two very determined teams, the Green Bay Packers edged the Patriots with blood, sweat, and force of will. The Patriots displayed some awesome red zone defense, limiting the Packers to four field goals. Two touchdowns came on big plays to TE Richard Rodgers and WR Jordy Nelson, who had the pleasure of having Darrelle Revis all over him for most of the game. For one play, however, Nelson got the best of Revis on a diagonal route, and he outraced the entire Patriot defense to the pilon for a late 2nd quarter TD. Kudos to WR's Randall Cobb and Davante Adams for stepping up while Nelson was being shut down. Adams may not be sleeping well after a painful drop of an easy TD pass in the 4th quarter, which would have sealed the win, but overall, he torched the Patriot secondary with clutch catches.

The solid Patriot defense did sack Rodgers three times, but for most of the game, Rodgers had ungodly amounts of time to throw. Thanks to the fine play of Revis & Co., Rodgers could not light up the scoreboard as he's so used to doing. His counterpart, Tom Brady, was only sacked the one time, but the Packer defensive front harassed him quite often, forcing errant throws and getting several tips and blocks on the ball. It was truly a fierce game between two well-coached teams.

Even Patriot Head Coach Bill Belichick, who doesn't normally stick around on the field after a game, stayed to congratulate Aaron Rodgers and Packer Head Coach Mike McCarthy.

Was this game a Super Bowl preview? Maybe, but some Packer fans may not want to see their team play the Patriots again this year. This win was a freakin' nail-biter!!

It really was a great game, even though my team didn't win it. Very entertaining to say the least. If there's going to be a SB rematch, I like the Pats odds very muchso.

I'm reminded of an old Sox / Yankees game during the regular season at NY that the Sox ended up losing in extra innings but not before giving it everything they had in an extra-inning grindfest. This was in 2003 I think. It had everything: Late-game heroics on both sides, crazy defensive plays.. even guys swapping positions in the infield if I'm not mistaken (I remember a shot of some infielders tossing gloves back and forth in the 11th or 12th inning).

In fact, this was the same game where you had Jeter diving 4 rows into the stands for a foul pop while GAHCIAPAHHRAHHA sat on the bench like a little baby. A hell of a game that as a fan of basball you had to respect regardless of who you were rooting for.

Packers 43

Falcons 37

The Packers' star wide receiver Jordy Nelson hauls in yet another big touchdown bomb from Aaron Rodgers in a thrilling-yet-maddening shootout win over the Atlanta Falcons.

If you turned the channel at halftime (with the Packers leading 31-7), you were a bit premature in your assessment of the game. The Falcons, desperate for a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, never quit for an instant. THEIR star wide receiver, Julio Jones, made the Packer secondary look like chumps en route to a 250+ receiving performance. Thanks to a mediocre Packer pass rush, Matt Ryan and Julio Jones nearly fought all the way back to tie the game.

Fortunately for the Packers (and a whole bunch of grateful Packer fans), Aaron Rodgers and his offense did enough to stay ahead of the Falcons. Almost a THOUSAND yards of combined offense were gained by the two teams. Packer RB's Eddie Lacy and James Starks made the struggling Falcon defense pay for playing cover-2, and Rodgers continued his masterful quarterbacking with clutch runs, improvisional passing, and, as always, the deep bomb to Nelson. Amazingly, Rodgers took a heavier beating than his counterpart, but he shook off the hits and dominated the Falcon defense.

A win is a win is a win, but the defense knows, as we all know, that they have to play better than this! GO PACK GO!!!

Looks like the Pack may have to win out to avoid a possible trip to Seattle in January.

When the Packers and Bills last met - four years ago - Clay Matthews & Co. had a blast blasting Trent Edwards and the Bills 34-7.

Being in attendance at Lambeau Field that day, I had a blast as well!! :laughing guy:

Will the Packers blast the Bills this Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium? Let's hope so, because they have never won in that stadium. :eh:

Even more strange....they have never beaten Kyle Orton on his home field (Chicago, Denver, Kansas City). :eh: :eh: Orton is 4-0 against the Packers at home, 0-2 at Lambeau. Can he repeat the magic for a 5th time? We shall see soon enough!!

In important Packer news...

For Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the game trumps everything else.

His girlfriend, actress Olivia Munn, appeared on Thursday night's edition of "Watch What Happens Live" and shared some personal information about the couple's sex life.

Munn, who stars on HBO's "Newsroom" didn't reveal anything too salacious or juicy, but when host Andy Cohen asked her point blank, "Do you have sex on game days?" Munn gave an honest answer.

"No, we don't," she said. "Not on game day. There's not a rule, but it just doesn't happen because there are other things to focus on."

Munn later added, though, that she does "try to have sex as much as she can."

Let's not go THAT far.....;). If his receivers catch the ball, Rodgers' rotten day would have been upgraded to a mediocre day, and his team would have won the game!

That's true, Nelson pretty much ruined that with those dropped passes.

RIP to another key cog in the Packers' 1960s dynasty.

Fuzzy Thurston, a key player on Vince Lombardi's Green Bay Packers championship teams of the 1960s, died Sunday after a long illness. He was 15 days shy of his 81st birthday.

His family announced the death on Sunday afternoon via Twitter, prompting an outpouring of sympathy messages from Packers fans.

"My favorite memory of Fuzzy was when he was in Eau Claire signing autographs for a fundraiser; he was wearing a Super Bowl ring, and I was in awe," recalled Packers fan Jason Christopherson of Osseo. "Fuzzy must have noticed. He looked up at me, smiled, took the ring off, and handed it to me to look at. Still the only time I have ever held one.

"He was just a special human being who loved interacting with his fans."

The 6-foot-1, 247-pound Thurston, whose given name was Frederick, teamed with fellow guard Jerry Kramer to clear the way for running backs Paul Hornung and Jim Taylor as part of the famed Green Bay power sweep. He played in 112 games for the Packers, retiring after the 1967 season. He played on five NFL championship teams under Lombardi and was a first-team All-Pro in 1961.

"I got to know Fuzzy over the years and I met him at, I believe, the '06 Fan Fest and he was great," Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said after Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills. "He was a Packer legend and that's rough. We lost a great one."

Baltimore Colts coach Weeb Ewbank reluctantly traded Thurston to the Packers for journeyman linebacker Marv Matuszak in 1959. The Colts were set at guard with Alex Sandusky and Art Spinney, and Ewbank couldn't wait for Thurston, a rising star, John Unitas Jr. said in his book "Johnny U and Me: The Man Behind The Golden Arm."

Thurston became the Packers' starting left guard upon his arrival in Green Bay. He missed part of the 1965 season because of injury. Thurston's last year as a starter was 1966. He was a backup to Gale Gillingham in his final season, 1967.

Thurston was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame in 1975. He was inducted to the Wisconsin Athletic and the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association halls of fame in 2003 and was a member of the Valparaiso Athletic and Indiana Football halls of fame.

"The Packers Family was saddened today to learn of the passing of Fuzzy Thurston," Packers president and chief executive Mark Murphy said in a statement. "Fuzzy was an endearing figure for Packers fans for more than 50 years, going back to his all-pro playing days and continuing through his rousing welcomes at Lambeau Field as a favorite alum. Our sincere condolences go out to Fuzzy's family."

After his playing days, Thurston stayed connected with the Packers and the Green Bay community. He appeared at many team events, and ran Fuzzy's, a bar and grill that started in Allouez and then moved to West Mason Street in Green Bay. Earlier, he was an investor in The Left Guard, a restaurant with several locations in Wisconsin.

"He just absolutely loves being Fuzzy," Kramer said in a 2006 interview with the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "He has as much fun living his life as anyone I've ever known."

Nelson, Adams, Quarless, Boykin, ....... They dropped passes, and Rodgers was way off on other passes. Before Nelson dropped that easy TD, he was WIDE OPEN for a bomb, but Rodgers didn't even see him. He threw to Cobb, and it was intercepted. :(
