LeChuck Posted July 20, 2010 Share Posted July 20, 2010 1) Farewell to Kings - I love everything about this album - the songs, the sound from each band member (esp. Geddy's bass tone and vocals), the way that synths were tastefully used, etc. The atmosphere of this album is amazing. I never grow tired of listening to this all the way through (and yes I love Madrigal ..) 2) Hemispheres - Ditto everything above. Synths are expanding with the Oberheim 8-voice (hurray for polyphony!), but still used to great effect. This album f'ing rocks. 3) Moving Pictures - This barely beats out Permanent Waves for me. For me, it's SUPER complicated to really chose a favorite album; they all are awesome in their own different way. I'm gonna try to answer this "various" times. 1st time: 1. Power Windows 2. Carres of Steel 3. Fly by Night 2nd time: 1. Hold Your Fire 2. Presto 3. Roll The Bonse 3rd time: 1. Rush 2. Vapor Trails 3. Signals 4th time: 1. Permanent Waves 2. Test for Echo 3. Permanent Waves 2. Moving Pictures 3. Signals are some of the BEST albums ever put out in a row by a band.... I have been on the Pearl Jam site for years and do realize that the fan base is full of some very strong and dedicated fans. I have always said, is in the TOP 15 BANDS of all time (60's & 70's) Some of my other choices are......(in no particular order) Beatles/Zeppelin/Rolling Stones/Who/ Pink Floyd/ The Doors/Black Sabbath/Van Halen/Grateful Dead/ Yes /ACDC /Jimi Hendrix Experience / Aerosmith / Eagles And you? Signals is not on the PW/MP level and i don't understand how anyone could think it is. But I see a lot listing it in their top 3 which never ceases to amaze me.
