Signed items

I sent mine in about a week before the show. I saw them on Monday, and I got it back in the mail signed before Wednesdays show.

 

I will have my daughter scan it for me. I love how Neil is personalizing them for everyone.

How long has it been taking for people to get their stuff back? It's been almost a week since the show I sent my stuff to and I'm beginning to get a bit worried. Maybe it's just me though...

I sent in my MP album cover to the Seattle show and received it back about five days later. I sent my tourbook into the Wichita venue but never received it (my guess is it didn't get there in time). I've sent items in using a confirmation receipt but lost my last one so wasn't able to track the package.

 

It seems like people are getting their items back anywhere from three to 10 days after the show date.

Why do you feel that it is Neil personalizing the photos this year? I kinda figured the manager was doing that to deter sellers.

I think one thing to keep in mind is that some venues are better at sorting fan mail than others. My buddy sent a picture to Allentown. He figured since he lives in Bethlehem that he had a good shot. Personally, I feel it's all about how you send it, what you're sending and a little bit of luck. He still hasn't gotten back anything from Allentown. My gut says he won't because it just seemed like a very unorganized place. I"ve got an 8x10 I"m sending out. Will probably get it out no later than one week prior to the show date.

You fell right into the trap. He personalizes his signatures to devalue the piece if you ever have any intention of selling it.

I think I've given up on getting anything back this time around. USPS says there is no record of my stuff coming back when I look it up online. I might try to get something else sent out during this tour. Any recommendations of a good venue to send stuff to?

I was thinking of trying this for Tampa - but since it's the end of the tour and they have mailed some out days after the show, I wonder if I should try an earlier show (Atlanta maybe?)

FWIW... Not all venues will deliver mail to the performers. So if you didn't get an item back, it doesn't necessarily mean that the band screwed you over - there's a reasonable chance that they never got the item.

 

I have a list of venues that I KNOW will deliver mail to the artist, so when Rush is on tour and I want something signed - I just match up the tour dates to my list, and bammo.

 

There's usually only one or two corresponding venues, but at least I know I can time it, and I know I'll get my item back!

Really!? That sucks then. I had sent in my guitar sheet music (first page only) for TSOR for Alex to sign but I guess it never got to the guys and now I'm out a tour book AND this sheet music.

 

I ordered another tour book, so when that comes, I'll send it out to another venue.

I'm debating on sending something to the Atlanta show (Encore Park). If I decide to I'm going to call and ask before sending. I certainly don't want to send the only vinyl copy I have (say Permanent Waves for example) and it get lost.

You forgot the DC/VA show at the Jiffy Lube complex this Sat., 9/18.

 

I am sending something there. The Pitt show is on the 16th, so I am hoping the day in between will allow them time to do some signing.

Thanks. I'm suppose to get a second copy of Signals on vinyl. I'll send that so in case something happens I'm not out a record. So far in my search for Rush vinyl in Atlanta, I have not found a lot.

I would contact the venue and ask about their policy. That's what I did.

I was thinking of sending a MP CD cover (I have duplicates) since that would be fitting for this tour (My MP album is almost 30 years old, in poor shape, and prized because it was my first Rush LP - I didn't want to risk sending it.)

 

For the MP Cd, I was thinking of sending a silver sharpie (fine tip) because the silver will show up better on the dark cover. My concern is smudging / smearing but I guess that can happen with any sharpie. It seems they have taken care to let things dry just a second.

 

Any thoughts on the pen?
