Some pictures I'm going to use with my job applications. You think that might work?

Don't know what kind of job you're going for so it kind of depends. But personally, and assuming it's an office or professional position, I'd play it safe and go with a suit OR the standard white dress shirt, necktie, & a vest.

I'm applying for an internship at a national TV channel. I have a feeling that suit and tie would be too formal.

I think these are good pictures however I agree that maybe a shirt with a collar would like better? If not a full suit maybe a dress shirt?

Would this one be better?

Yep,

That works!

I actually have a guitar like that one. One day I'll make a picture just like that  :guitar:

I remember when you were naming that one... What did you decide on?

The Lad and I took a road trip this spring and our first stop was Cathedral Gorge, just outside of Panaca, NV. It's a really cool place that gets very little traffic, so we got to do lots of exploring.

Ended our day playing cribbage by the campfire...

I never could decide. How do people even name stuff let alone children? It's hard.

I actually got inspired seeing Rod's picture of him and his daughter Stella. First I had envisioned something having to do with gold (obviously), but nothing with gold sounds great. I want something that will sound cool to the ears of a danish guy. So that got me thinking. Stella means star. My father died which is how I got the guitar to begin with, so there's a connection. A story that will inspire me. Then I started looking for different words for the same and found Astra. But ... I think Stella works.

Rod, I hope this is not weird :)

Goose, can't see your pics, but when I looked at the name of the Nevada town, I thought it read Panacea, NV. :)

Andrew, loves the pics.

Analog, that's a great picture. I'd definitely use that one (one posted 5/7 at 4:44).

Thanks blueschica!

In other news, Stella has learned to say "heavy metal"...she says it in her own cute way: "habeemetol". We laughed so hard!

Krystal, my daughter, was with the wife and I on our trip to Ruby Falls and Rock City, Tennessee in the summer of '86, and "Play That Funky Music" was a hit at the time. My wife and I fell out laughing when the song was on the Tape I was playing and Krystal spouted out, "FunkymusicwhiteBoyyyyyyyy!" :LMAO:

I actually had my room painted (bye-bye green and orange walls!) so this warrants another selfie from DoL:

I like pink.

Gorgeous.(both you and the walls) I wish 'certain folk' were less stupid about assigning gender labels to colors, ya know? I like pink also!!!

Thanks ORFie!! And pink rules. Excluding it from one's color palette on the basis of being male is... limiting. Color is genderless. It's only about what shade and tone of any color looks best to oneself that is important, screw everything else. :P

I actually had to argue with my parents about getting such a vivid color painted because generally it's a good idea to go lighter and more neutral and last time they allowed me to paint my room with whatever colors I wanted, I ended up with particularly grating shades of green and orange and absolutely hated it, but I wake up to this color now every morning and always feel good about it--it's energizing, powerful, romantic. It's not overpowering and it's not gaudy. No regrets.

It wasn't until the early- or mid-20th century that pink came to be associated with girls. Prior to that pink was a boy's color and blue was a girl's color.

I studied this in college and it's still stayed in my memory! It's quite interesting, actually; back in the Renaissance (and going back easier than that: classical art, Greeks, Romans, blah) women were frequently associated with water. So many neoclassical paintings of women on shores, women in clams, mermaids, baths, rivers, going way beyond the simple depiction of the birth of Venus. Hipporates' theory of the four humors stated that if one was phlegmatic, one was more feminine: docile, apathetic, calm and tolerant. Again, this was associated with water. Conversely, men were associated with air and blood.

So really, going by those theories, it makes more sense for blue to be a girl's color and red to be a boy's, but I'm sort of happy it's gotten to the point where those associations don't matter anymore.

I was the ORIGINAL 'CRAYOLA KID!' in my youth. Always had to have the BIGGEST BOX THEY MADE! My first box was a 48 color box, but as soon as I learned of the 72 color box with the 'sharpener' on the back, I bugged my parents until they got me one! Now that I'm supposedly an 'Adult' I bought the 'Tin' which has all of the older deleted colors that had been retired during my life...(I NEED my 'Midnight Blue'!) I20 colors now....including fluorescents.....Coloring books are no where NEAR what they used to be....I DON'T NEED to play games, I need to COLOR MY FAVORITE CARACTERS!! I had about an inch thick "Peanuts" (charlie brown and snoopy) coloring book which was given away to a cousin or sumpin'....always into all the colors in the rainbow since a wee lad....... :notworthy: :ebert:  :)

I AGREE!

It's why I am so in your face with how I dress. I am a guy, I am very particular, I love colour and style...I ALSO LIKE GIRLS!

So many men have said they feel uneasy around me and my answer on mamy occasions has been simple: is my beautiful girlfriend intimidating?

Guys in western culture are so edgy about being seen as gay.

So my answer is WEAR WHAT YOU WANT AND IF PEOPLE NEED TO QUESTION THEN TEST THEIR PERCEPTION!

I want to like this post a thousand times.

Nobody's sexuality is defined by what they wear; it's what's inside your head that counts. Are you a man and you want to wear pink? Go for it. Want to wear overalls? Fine. Want to wear a dress? Have at it. (Ironically, most transvestites are straight, not gay.) It doesn't mean I have to like it, but what I like means nothing, except to possibly the person I am involved with.
