It's worth more than I thought even:

Wow...I didn't realize it would be worth that much. I would love to run into a find like that sometime...

Pretty awesome find Bro! 1022.gif

Keep in mind most of the ones at that site or in fantastic condition - if it's one that's really scratched it could be worth a good bit less, or on the lower end of that spectrum.

Searching back through his 30 posts the majority has been about collector's merchandise so I am assuming it's a hobby or something and he got a little overzealous with his dream find or something.

Kinda silly to put in a brag post when no one knows who you are?

If I found it for $1 I'd sell it in a heartbeat. I'd rather have the money than the collectible personally... unsure.gif

I need money like everyone else, but I don't think I could force myself to sell something like that. I have my autographed tour book from last tour, and I will never sell that - it'll be passed down to my son smile.gif But to each their own trink39.gif

I've got a story for everyone....

Back when I was 18, (I'm 38 now) I was in a band called "The Trend" (Don't laugh, we were pretty damn good).

The Lead player in our group was a board operator for AM 800, some of you remember "The BIG 8" out of Windsor Ontario.....

Anyway, he had a key to the building and we used to go there on Saturday nights and hang out in the basement......

Well let me tell you. It was (probably still is) an Amazing place.

They had rows and rows and rows of every rock/pop album you can imagine on shelves that seemed to go on forever.

All promo, radio only albums, all vinyl.

The equipment was just as amazing. Old reel to reels, Mics, speakers, you name it, they had it.

Well, one time we were partying and he asked us if we wanted any albums. (They were never going to use them again)

So, I picked out every rush album I could find. I was a Huge Rush fan back them.

I still have them (Somewhere in my Mom and Dads basement)

I should look for them and post pics.

I doubt there worth anything as they would be your average radio promo album, but the fact they cam from the basement of the "Big 8" to me is awesome.

(Yes we had permission to take a few albums. I didn't get all of them, but if I remember, I got RUSH, CAS, 2112.

It was am amazing place let me tell you. A Vault of music history.

Do white label promos of this exist? Who is the biggest collector of Rush vinyl on TRF?

To my knowledge ...

NO.

Moon was a small independent label then. Only the big labels did this, like Mercury records.

Which is why I am questioning the authenticity of the "promo" status. I've seen lots and lots of images of this record, but NEVER had I seen that red stamp. In fact, I've NEVER seen that red stamp on anything RUSH. (Waiting on responses from other "high end" vinyl collectors.)

Biggest collector of vinyl here? Who knows. I have a lot. Approximately 50 or so albums, various origins, etc.

For those wondering about the NOT FOR SALE stamp, here are three other images with the stamp from the popsike link I posted earlier. The stamp seems to be a legit variance of this single:

Thank you RG for finding those. I've been searching like crazy.

Legit it is. Official. Authentic. Certified.

Just never EVER seen one before. I've seen lots of these (used to have one but was lost in a house fire in '05), but without the stamp. My first time seeing the stamping. Hope you understand my concern.

Apprecaite the help.

Where did you find those images? And where can I find one? I am expecting an insane raise this August, and I'd like to make use of it.

Now, my next question is.... did they send out a bunch like this to radio stations to be aired?

Again, I apprecaiate the "proof". trink39.gif Thank you!

popsike is a great website that lists past ebay auctions of rare records, etc. - you can see what they sold for and the ads themselves including pictures.

I'm jealous.  The only vinyl I ever see at our Value Village is along the lines of crap like Mr. Mister.  Worthless shite.

Well, actually, Mr. Mister drummer (Pat Mastelotto) ended up in King Crimson! tongue.gif

EDIT: ok, someone else said that... sorry for the redundance! trink38.gif
