Just finished:

Tad Williams- The Heart Of What Was Lost

A short novella set directly after the events of Memory, Sorrow And Thorn. Published earlier this year, it was the first substantial work set in the kingdom of Osten Are to be published since 1993.

It serves as a bridge between that earlier classic and what I now just started:

Tad Williams- The Witchwood Crown (Book One of "The Last King Of Osten Ard")

I am already finding this to be a very emotional read.

Tad Williams work is very precious to me.

"Galapagos" is most excellent, if you're not getting burned out on Vonnegut.

And I gotta ask your thoughts on "Sirens of Titan" svp! Dark! Rented-a-tent, rented-a-tent...

Waaaaay to nihilist for me. Depending on how I feel about this one, I may take a bit of a break from Kurt after this. I've been meaning to read a few Oliver Sacks and Stephen King novels collecting dust on my shelf

But Galapagos is next on my Vonnegut list when I pick him back up

I'm going to re-read "Sirens" later on this summer. I was really surprised at the underlying darkness in the book (possibly due to him working out some WW2 memories?)

"Galapagos" is one of his best.

"Welcome to the Monkey House" has some great short stories.

And so on.

A couple of Iris Murdoch books I've read lately:

A Severed Head (absolutely ridiculous book...definitely not her best. Skip).

The Sandcastle

...and just started on The Good Apprentice, which I just love. Read it one time before, about five years ago. Had forgotten how good it is.
