Drawing to meet the band?

Recommended Posts

So when I bought my presale VIP package tix, the offer said somethnig about automatically being entered in a drawing to meet the band before the show.

Does anyone have any experience with this and how it works? How will I know if I won? Will I find out when I pickup my tix at Will Call?

It's great to be in the presence of Al & Ged, but the meet and greet is a very structured event.

Assuming your name is drawn, you'll be hearded along like sheep with other various contest winners backstage for a quick photo op.

Do not expect autographs, chat time or pre-show cocktails with the boys, you'll be in and out in about 3 short minutes, enough time to wait for your turn to have a picture taken and maybe a handshake.

And if you're lucky, a friendly goose on the ass.

I'm sure if you had a CD or shirt to autograph, they would quickly do it. It only takes a second to sign.

I've never been lucky enough to do one of these, but no, they won't is my understanding. You're lined up beforehand and given strict instructions as to what to do.

Now. You CAN send items ahead to the venue, with a SASE, for signing, and they will do so. Michael Mosbach, Rush's head of security, takes care of this. There's a table set up when the boys arrive and they sign everything there. Mosbach makes sure everything's mailed out.

Based on what I've read in this thread, actually meeting them might be a real buzzkill.

My honest opinion.....?

It kinda is.

It's still cool getting your photo taken with Ged & Al.

That'll last you a lifetime.

I got the opportunity to see a Dio show at a small venue in Denver years back. It was such a great show. He is a true showman, literally 'connected' with everyone in the crowd. I have been to hundreds of concerts, and that one ranks in the top 10 for sure (behind Rush of course!)

Meh...for me, it would still be worth it.

Just getting to shake their hands and get a picture with them would be all I could ask for.

I wouldn't expect to sit and have a long chat with them. Plus, that's probably best anyways...I'd have no idea what to say to them anyways.

A handshake and picture would be awesome. 1022.gif

Very cool picture......but what's with the pink dress?

I mean.......you don't really look like a drag queen.

The most embarrasing thing about that picture is that the only thing I said to the founder of heavy metal (Iommi) was "who the f is that in the pink", lol. I'm sure Tony was thrilled, lol

That is awesome. smile.gif

I'd LOVE to meet RJD. I might illicit some rocks being thrown at me (or other sharp objects), but RJD Sabbath was my favorite Sabbath (though I still do love Ozzy). "Heaven and Hell" STILL rocks my socks all these years later.

I've entered many-a-contest for "Meet and Greets" with Rush, and that would be my ultimate prize, but still no luck. Even if it's a quick photo and handshake, I know I'd have time to simply say, "Thank you".
