Questions about Pittsburgh:

Want to stay somewhere downtown within reasonable distance to Consol Energy Center, price not a concern.

Want to enjoy some of Pittsburgh's finest cuisine - please advise.

Pittsburgh Marriot (right across street from Consol Energy Center)

As far as cuisine, what are you looking for exactly?

Not fussy, want to eat in a nice restaurant with delicious food and good wine.

Ya, the Marriot looks good, thanks!

There is a nice restaurant in the lobby of the hotel

I've been to that place for work lunches.. I forget what it was called, but it's a nice place.

That's a rough call, those are closer than mine, but my nephews are so excited about being on the floor.. I wish I could see just exactly how it looks inside the new place to know how far away my floor seats are.

So are we having a meet up for the show?

I'll be in town. I got tix from a TRFer who doesn't post much but he was at my "2008 international meetup" in Downtown Detroit for Joe Louis. I'm staying at his place. I have a text in to him about where a good meetup would be b4 the show.

I'll post again once I hear from him and he figures out a good place, maybe a place related to rush somehow. I'll make sure they serve alcohol for you drinkers. Good food is all that's on my menu.

I'll check back asap. Thanks Ya Big Tree! Can't wait to see you and Geddysmullet again!!! (hugs from tmd) http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/bekloppt.gif http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/hug2.gif

Who all is IN??

While I'm waiting for Jeeperdirt, I wanted to say I'm disappointed that I was forced into a spoiler. Now I know they have hot tubs onstage at the show just by the name of this section. What a bummer. That woulda been a nice surprise... http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/new_thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

The ONLY place to be for the Pittsburgh show is at MY tailgate party. I am still working on the details, but will probably be camped out directly across the street from the Consol Energy Center.

Dude, that sounds more private and nice. I'm def sitting here with open ears. that way we can listen to rush tunes, etc., for exclusive control. Jeeperdirt might even be up for that. GM/YBT? Sorry I didn't see ur earlier posts.

I'm in!! I'm here in the 'Burgh (I work on the Northside) and will probably be working half day that day, getting my teenagers from Oakland and heading back into town to the venue.. I can assist with details/provisions if you need it.. where are you planning on parking?? We normally park in that upper lot above the arena right below that church. I wonder what time they will be opening the lots?

I remember the lots out at Starlake not opening until really late for their last tour. We wanted to hang out and tailgate, by the time we got in there and parked we had no "hang out" time..

Hey All -

Wassup Masked Dummer?! Sorry, got sidetracked yesterday and didn't get a post up here as soon as I hoped.

Yes you are indeed staying at my place. I'm 10 minutes / 5.8 miles from the venue, all freeway, in a neighborhood called Regent Square. General map Here.

Now the trick is finding a place as nice & cool as your international forum dinner was in Greektown in Detroit for the 2008 tour. Here, this is a new venue, directly across from where the Penguins hockey team's former home of Mellon Arena, and is almost "across the street" from downtown. It's almost on the Duquese University campus, though in other directions I wouldn't suggest walking alone, very far...

You fellow Yinzers know all this... just explaining for visitors...

Tailgating sounds like a blast, but the only challenge is if the cops / parking authority have other plans. Perhaps a combination of an early dinner, then tailgating, yields more "guaranteed" results?

And for you drinkers (so, not Ken... but me!), don't worry, they say Pittsburgh "is a drinking town with a football problem", so there's options. Over the Monongahela River is Carson Street, packed with bars, nice (and scummy) restaurants, coffee shops, you name it. Only challenge is getting between the two locations (mass transit isn't quite up to Seattle or Toronto standards here).

As for those with time to spare, there are a few nice resources indexed by the many colleges and universities in Pittsburgh. Ya see we're not about steel and mining as much anymore, and are big into Eds & Meds... one standout (among many) is Carnegie Mellon University.

Here's their guide to the city:

Also check out this:

And as for transportation:

http://www.cmu.edu/student-life/getting-around-town.shtml

But as for where & when to meet before for a sit-down dinner... whaddya other locals think... if walking distance: Primanti Bros.? (not really a fan), something else in Market Square? Something on the Duq campus? Or on 5th or Penn Ave? It's a 29 minute walk to Fat Heads... Yikes!

More later...

Peace!

Bill

Hey Bill, local lifetime Yinzer here.

I can offer up my tailagate area to any and all intereseted, but I won't be deviating from my plans at all. I am on a <insert rush song title> "Mission"

If anyone doesnt already know, I am in a Rush tribute band in Pittsburgh. Ironcally, there is a 2nd Rush Tribute band in Pittsburgh as well.

We are uniting together for a once in a lifetime "Rush Fest" show which is scheduled for Oct 2nd, 2010 (2 weeks after the Rush show). Our mission, to play songs that RUSH themselves won't play or haven't played in a very long time. ie: Hemispheres, Countdown, Jacobs Ladder, The Analog Kid.... And will features such classice LP's in there entireties such as Moving Pictures, Permanent Waves, Hemispheres, A Farewell to Kings.... And most songs from Signals and Grace Under Pressure

My sole mission will be promoting this event by blasting our "commercial" over my PA at the tailgate and passing out flyers to my exact target market (rush fans attending the show)

If anyone wants to hang out, pound some irons (pittsburgese for drink beer), verbally promote this event to passers by, and pass out flyers I would greatly appreciate your support

Or just stop by and say hello. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/bekloppt.gif

I initially made an error about the seat numbers for section 113 Row F. I have corrected those seat numbers and reduced the price for these tickets.

I have 4 tickets in section 110, Row K, Seats 5,6,7,8 $75 each ticket

I have 4 tickets in section 113 club, Row G Seats 3,4,5,6 (these are club level seats) $130 each ticket

I have 2 tickets in section 113 club, Row F, Seat 1,2 (these are club level seats) $130 each ticket
