Did anyone else notice a lady on the far end of Alex's side up on a platform doing what appeared to be sign language for the song lyrics? What exactly was that? I've been going to concerts for 18 years and have seen hundreds of shows and have never seen that at all.

Why if you're hard of hearing or deaf would you go to a concert anyways? http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/wtf.gif

My wife and I where on Alex's side 2nd row, between half way and end of stage left.

I was the guy stopping the S O B's from reaching first row without bands(wrist).

Just as show started guys started to push their way up, and in front of us.

So, I pushed the ty-wrapped chairs all the way up between first row people and pulled our seats (end of 2nd row) behind us. If I would not have done this we

would have had 3-7 people in front of us!!!

GREAT SHOW I think the sound could have been alot louder. I was thinking

maybe since the speakers looked so high, the sound went above our heads toward the grandstand. This is all coming from RUSH FANS that have always seen them at inside venues. IN THE SOUTH--LOUISIANA--.

We enjoy every time we see Rush!! If we had the money, we could travel with them to 2 or 3 or 23 shows. But you know gotta work for a living-- f**k!!!-

Our vacation started in Syracuse and is going to end in Syracuse(to fly home)

RED STICK--Baton Rouge........would like to say-everybody we have met here (in Syracuse) has been so nice and helpful, except a cop or 2.

We stopped and asked a policeman-security guard, asshole how to get to the

handicapped parking lot, he said(( I HAVE NO CLUE, RIDE THE BUS IN )) BYE FOR KNOW, STILL GOT MORE TO SAY------NERVOUS & BLIND-------

I think it's because the state runs the fair, so they are subject to all sorts of laws.

So they have to be accessible, hence the sign language interpreter. Still funny, I sort of watched to see if Alex would try something funny with her.

In any event I didn't get to the fair until about an hour before the show, but here's a quick rundown.

I was in the lower middle sections of the grandstand (stupid internet, ah well it worked out), and the view was pretty good, and from where I was sitting, it was very loud. From what I heard about the track seating it may have been for the better. Besides the rest of the fair made a nice backdrop. I always seem to have ticket problems (for the SPAC show, I had to call MusicToday about a problem, this time I didn't know who was coming with me until about 10 minutes before the tickets went on sale to the public...)

I noticed that the Time Machine black lightning shirt seems to be popular around here. Almost made my steampunk one stick out. Also a lot of Roll The Bones shirts, which seems odd to me.

again with the slight cheer when Geddy sang the "An angular mass of New Yorkers" line http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif

For the playing...three words, It's f'ing http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/2.gif .

It was hot (really really hot), but it could have rained (and being Syracuse, snowed)

Glad it went well for everyone (well everyone that posted), and hope you enjoyed the fair (if you went to it). Hope you got to try the milk.

and so on and on and on (I'll end it here)

until next tour.

I figured it was something like that when it came to the sign language. It still made no sense to me though. Like I said, in 18 years of going to concerts i've never seen that before. So I found it very unusual.

I have a Black Lightning shirt as well. I thought it was the coolest looking of them all when I bought it at the SPAC show. I guess a lot of other people feel the same way http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif I didn't notice that many RTB shirts though. When you're in the front row you don't have the opportunity to scan the crowd the way you do if you're somewhere in the middle of the pack.

Since they didn't hit the Buffalo area this tour i'm hoping they get a show here next summer. I don't mind traveling to see them but it's always nice when a band will play in your area so you don't have as much to worry about.

Almost positive there will be a Buffalo show next year

I'm surprised there wasn't this year (especially since a Darien Lake show was rumored before the tour announcement)

Maybe the RTB shirts stuck out to me, but for some reason they were well represented from what I saw (walking around the grandstand beforehand), as were the lightning ones, the the later is to be expected. I just didn't expect them to outnumber the other tour shirts by as much as they did.

Not that I think of it, the sign language thing is a bit trippy, still, an interesting way to learn Rush in sign language. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/cool.gif

I hope you're right on that. Do you have any sources to confirm that it will happen? I'm totally dumbfounded as to why they didn't have a show at Darien Lake this summer? Even 97 Rock had a petition on their web page to get them here. I was hoping something would be added at the end of the tour for here but no such luck http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/angry.gif

I didn't mind it too much when they didn't play here on the second leg of S&A because they came here on the first one. But this time around I was very surprised. Especially with doing all of MP and Buffalo being one of the American cities that has supported them so well for so long. It just didn't make sense to me when there was no date for here announced.

Tom Petty sold out one show at Darien Lake this summer and then they added a second one. I know Buffalo's economy is in the crapper but people will still come out for the good shows. Especially for a good classic rock band like Rush.

I started a thread about a Buffalo show awhile back I know a few people who work at the DL Venue bottom line they blew it.This was the worse year for concerts at DL ie.attendance wise it was horrible. The booker for the shows and management over estimated the popularity of most of the concerts booked

Except for country which always is the money maker and the Uproar Festival which did great Tom Petty etc..They didn't book more "older acts" which when I worked there always had a good crowd. With Rush I know they looked into adding them late with a date after Syracuse but it just didn't pan out.I usually talk to the DL people in the Spring and they give me heads up if they know what they have coming up for the Summer so I will keep yous informed if I hear anything in 2011

^^^^^^

Cool man, keep us posted on that. I did go to the Uproar festival at Darien Lake and it did draw a really big crowd. It's sad to hear that they screwed up on getting Rush here. The promoters at Darien Lake really need to be aware of who can draw around here and who can't.

My post from another thread:

This was my first show, and turned me into a far more intense fan. We were in the second to last row in Grandstand 3, but it was just so awesome I didn't even think about it. Having said that, next time I'm going to try for something closer. I hear the seating up front is for fan club members, but haven't seen any sign of how to join in poking around Rush websites. I signed up for the newsletter - are there details in there?

Our section was mellow too, but everyone took so many drugs before the show started that I doubt they even knew where they were, much less had the inclination to stand up/dance We did have Vuvuzela Guy, who thankfully only used his instrument for applause, though it was unique and enthusiastic! All part of the fun - even took a pic of him. And how cool was it that the Fair fireworks were going off close to when Rush's were? One cool thing about the nosebleed seats - when they showed the big Ferris wheel onscreen during (was it) Presto, you could see the real one off to the left on the midway. Magical.

Oh, man, I wanna relive this show forever...hope my memories last a long time!

And just who am I, newbie that I am? My intro from Finding My Way:

http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=59785

Any Syracuse Rush folks ever meet up? Would love to get in on it!

Carrie

Glad you enjoyed your first live http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/2.gif experience but really how could you not? http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

As far as getting tickets close up yes, being a member of the fanclub does help that. Since you'll be able to get first dibs on tickets when the pre-sales for them start which is usually earlier in the week before they go on sale to the public.

If you're willing to spend a bit of extra cash you can also check StubHub for close seats. That's what I did to get front row for this show http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/wacko.gif But I must warn you that you maybe paying quite a bit more than what the ticket originally went for.
