Setlist hopes and dreams

Recommended Posts

I haven't noticed if anyone else has said this but maybe this will have a "B-sides" component as Alex has floated in the past. We'll have some of the old standbys, all of MP (!!!!) along with some vault stuff.

That being said, I'd like to hear:

"Countdown"

"Presto"

"Grand Designs" (ok pretty much anything off of PoW besides 'The Big Money')

"Red Lenses"

"Prime Mover"

"You Bet Your Life"

And would be happy with just two of those. Any two. smile.gif

If they're digging through the vault already...
If they played Emotion Detector just once live, I would be able to die happy! (Provided I'm there at the time of course!)
Wonder why it's never been played live - my favourite song of all-time.

Yeah...ED would be unbelivable live. It certainly is more than just underrated.

I always thought it would work really well as a second set song...you know, especially when the sun is almost down (provided you're in an outdoor venue of course). The intro starting up at that point would be incredible IMO.

Just a fantastic tune...and not a bad TRF'er either! wink.gif

I have to agree, that would be perfect. The synth intro is so haunting; I always think of smoke clearing after some great event, the calm after the storm. So yeah, at sunset would just increase the atmosphere immensely.

I saw a video interview of Lerxst before they did the Snakes & Arrows Tour where he mentioned his favourite solos (Limelight's always no.1, of course), and he actually talks about Emotion Detector, so maybe they were thinking about playing it during S&A; it would be so nice if they could play it for this tour if they're sitting so firmly in their 80s stuff smile.gif

I just hope if they do, it'll be at a venue near me! Damn being in Europe... smile.gif

2.gif wub.gif forever!

PS. Thanks for the welcome!

Well, I figure after all they would have played something short and easy would be okay. Colour Of Right would be a great encore song. And any time they tour it is actually "One Little Victory".

Um...The Color of Right is one of Rush's most underrated songs.

This song and album will never get the respect they deserve. comp26.gif

Don't worry Dude...the album certainly gets my respect. I love TFE personally, and actually, from what I remember, so does metaldad.

But seriously, there are WAY too many other encores that could top that.

Plus, even though I can say that I'm a fan of all Rush songs, I wouldd still probably consider 'The Colour of Right' the weakest song on TFE with maybe 'Carve Away The Stone'.

If you had to have an encore finish with tracks from both those albums, then how about Time & Motion / Earthshine, or Ceiling Unlimited / Test For Echo.

Just sayin'... wink.gif

Ok I'll weigh in on this one. The way I'm reading into this tour, I see it as sort of a "for the fans" tour... a good mix of everything from different eras, some "hits", as well as some "from the vault" type stuff that hasn't been played as much in recent years.

I'll probably get blasted a bit for being a little too "mainstream" on this, but here's the kind of set that I personally would LOVE (and that I think a lot of people would find very satisying):

First Set

1. Spirit Of Radio

2. Test For Echo

3. Time Stand Still

4. Freewill

5. Show Don't Tell

6. Middletown Dreams

7. La Villa Strangiato

8. The Pass

9. Roll The Bones

10. Far Cry

11. Kid Gloves

12. Trees

13. Xanadu

Second Set

1. Tom Sawyer

2. Red Barchetta

3. YYZ

4. Limelight

5. Camera Eye

6. Witch Hunt

7. Vital Signs

8. Force Ten

9. Big Money

10. Chemistry

11. Earthshine

12. Animate

13. Temples Of Syrinx

Encore

1. Dreamline

2. Bastille Day

3. By-Tor and the Snow Dog

Other great song choices (how can you limit it to just one concert, right? lol!) might include:

Cut To The Chase, Speed Of Love, Cold Fire, Marathon, Farewell To Kings, Afterimage, etc.

just my 2 cents - of course, doesn't include any new songs they may want to introduce

i was just thinking they might do a similar setlist to the moving pictures tour plus some recent stuff. theyve played most of these songs in the past few tour so there already is a familiarity with them. i could go for that setlist since its not really stressing synth era or post-presto songs. la villa, bytor, beneath, between and behind, xanadu, and a longer but not complete version of hemispheres prelude plus armageddon.

no jacob's ladder though and shortened version of working man, which i see as the only weakness. plus you get "in the end", which was rated high on rush petition's 2007 results. but it didn't do too well in this years poll.
