STOCKHOLM (AP) - Former NHL player Peter Nordstrom was suspended for two games by the Swedish Elite League on Saturday for cross-checking Peter Forsberg in a playoff game.

Forsberg, the Hart Trophy Winner as NHL MVP with the Colorado Avalanche in 2003 and a seven-time all-star, sustained a light concussion while playing for MoDo on Thursday night. He didn't play Saturday in Game 5 of the quarter-final series against Farjestad.

MoDo won 1-0 in Karlstad on Dane Jesper Damgaard's early goal.

Tommy Salo went the distance in goal for MoDo, which will play Game 6 in the best-of-seven series at home in Ornskoldsvik early next week.

Nordstrom, who played for the Boston Bruins, was ejected from the game and fined $900 US by the league.

Forsberg reportedly has sustained seven concussions in addition to several other serious injuries during his career.

It's unclear whether Forsberg will play for Sweden in the April 30-May 15 world hockey championship in Innsbruck and Vienna, Austria.

Earlier this season, he turned down invitations to play in the European Hockey Tour series involving the best national teams in Europe.
