Mike Oldfield - Blue Night

To the whole room, her eyes are numb

As she reads from a true love story.

From the pages of a book, her lover comes.

Her heart bleeds, it's a true love story.

Misty shape in the window by her bed,

Dreaming on what she's read.

Hero takes her hand and leads her through.

Who knows what this night will do?

Only in the blue night, he comes to her

Only in the blue night.

That's when the whole night belongs to her,

Only in the blue night.

I see a dark face by the moon's glow

As she reads from a true love story.

Beckoning hand scratching at the window.

Her heart bleeds, it's a true love story.

Misty path and the night is endless.

She could be a queen or a desert princess.

Hero takes her hand and leads her through.

Who knows what this night will do?

Only in the blue night, he comes to her

Only in the blue night.

That's when the whole night belongs to her,

Only in the blue night.

She wants to break free

From the cold light of reality.

And as she drifts away,

I hear her voice say, "come away."

Dark skin glistening by the silver light.

This is the hero come tonight.

And taking her hand, he leads her through.

Who knows what this night will do?

Only in the blue night, he comes to her

Only in the blue night.

That's when the whole night belongs to her,

Only in the blue night.

Blue, blue night,

Only in the blue night.

Blue, blue night,

Only in the blue night.

Blue, blue night,

Only in the blue night.

Blue, blue night

Queensryche - Anybody Listening?

You and I

long to live like the wind upon the water.

If we close our eyes, we'll maybe realize

there's more to life than what we have known.

And I can't believe I've spent so long

living lies I knew were wrong inside,

I've just begun to see the light.

Long ago there was a dream,

had to make a choice or two.

Leaving all I loved behind,

for what nobody knew.

Stepped out on the stage, alive

under lights and judging eyes.

Now the applause has died and I

can dream again...

Is there anybody listening?

Is there anyone that sees what's going on?

Read between the lines,

criticize the words they're selling.

Think for yourself and feel the walls

become sand beneath your feet

Feel the breeze?

Time's so near you can almost taste the freedom.

There's a warm wind from the south.

Hoist the sail and we'll be gone,

by morning this will all seem like a dream.

And if I don't return to sing the song,

maybe just as well.

I've seen the news and there's

not much I can do...alone

Is there anybody listening?

Is there anyone who smiles without a mask?

What's behind the words--Images

they know will please us?

I'll take what's real. Bring up the lights.

Is there anybody listening?

Is there anyone that sees what's going on?

Read between the lines,

criticize the words they're selling.

Think for yourself and feel the walls...

become sand beneath your feet.

I'll forgo the Rush songs since everyone here knows them. Neil is probably my favorite lyricist, with Limelight and Time Stand Still being my two favorites lyrically at the moment. wub.gif

Roger Waters is also a genius:

Pink Floyd - Time

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day

You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.

Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town

Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.

You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.

No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.

So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking

Racing around to come up behind you again.

The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,

Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.

Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way

The time is gone, the song is over,

Thought I'd something more to say.

Led Zeppelin - Ten Years Gone

Then as it was, then again it will be

An' though the course may change sometimes

Rivers always reach the sea

Blind stars of fortune, each have several rays

On the wings of maybe, down in birds of prey

Kind of makes me feel sometimes, didn't have to grow

But as the eagle leaves the nest, it's got so far to go

Changes fill my time, baby, that's alright with me

In the midst I think of you, and how it used to be

Did you ever really need somebody, And really need 'em bad

Did you ever really want somebody, The best love you ever had

Do you ever remember me, baby, did it feel so good

'Cause it was just the first time, And you knew you would

Through the eyes an' I sparkle, Senses growing keen

Taste your love along the way, See your feathers preen

Kind of makes makes me feel sometimes, Didn't have to grow

We are eagles of one nest, The nest is in our soul

Vixen in my dreams, with great surprise to me

Never thought I'd see your face the way it used to be

Oh darlin', oh darlin'

I'm never gonna leave you. I never gonna leave

Holdin' on, ten years gone

Ten years gone, holdin' on, ten years gone

Roger Waters - Perfect Sense Part I & II

[HAL]: Stop Dave

Will you stop Dave?

Stop Dave

I'm afraid

I'm afraid

Dave, my mind is going

I can feel it

I can feel it

My mind is going

There is no question about it

I can feel it

I can feel it

I can feel it

I'm afraid

The monkey sat on a pile of stone

And he stared at the broken bone in his hand

Strains of a Viennese quartet rang out across the land

The monkey looked up at the stars

And he thought to himself

Memory is a stranger

History is for fools

And he cleaned his hands in a pool of holy writing

Turned his back on the garden and set out for the nearest town

Hold on hold on soldier

When you add it all up

The tears and the marrowbone

There's an ounce of gold

And an ounce of pain in each measure

And the Germans kill the Jews

And the Jews kill the Arabs

And the Arabs kill the hostages

And that is the news

And is it any wonder that the monkey's confused

He said Mama Mama, the President's a fool

Why do I have to keep reading these technical manuals

And the joint chiefs of staff

And the brokers on Wall Street said

Don't make us laugh, you're a smart kid

Time is linear

Memory's a stranger

History is for fools

Man is a tool in the hands

Of the great God Almighty

And they gave him command of a nuclear submarine

Sent him back in search of the Garden of Eden

-----------------------------

Can't you see

It all makes perfect sense

Expressed in dollars and cents,

Pounds, shillings and pence

Can't you see

It all makes perfect sense

Little black soul departs in perfect focus

Hold on soldier

Prime time fodder for the News at Nine

Hold on, hold on soldier

Darling is the child warm in the bed tonight

[Marv Albert:] "Hi everybody I'm Marv Albert

And welcome to our telecast

Coming to you live from Memorial Stadium

It's a beautiful day

And today we expect a sensational matchup

But first our global anthem"

Can't you see

It all makes perfect sense

Expressed in dollars and cents,

Pounds, shillings and pence

Can't you see

It all makes perfect sense

[Marv:] "And here come the players

As I speak to you now, the captain

Has his cross hairs zeroed in on the oil rig

He's at periscope depth

It looks to me like he's going to attack

By the way did you know that a submarine

Captain earns 200,000 dollars a year"

[Edward:]"That's LESS tax Marv"

[Marv:]"Yeah, LESS tax

Thank you Edward"

[Edward:]"You're welcome"

[Marv:]"Now back to the game...he fires one...yes

There goes two; both fish are running

The rig is going into a prevent defense

Will they make it? I don't think so"

Look out!

Look at that baby burn!

Can't you see

It all makes perfect sense

Expressed in dollars and cents,

Pounds, shillings and pence

Can't you see

It all makes perfect sense

Can't you see

It all makes perfect sense

Jethro Tull - Heavy Horses

Iron-clad feather-feet pounding the dust

On octobers day, towards evening

Sweat embossed veins standing proud to the plough

Salt on a deep chest, seasoning

Last of the line at an honest days toil

Turning the deep sod under

Flint at the fetlock, chasing the bone

Flies at the nostrils plunder.

The suffolk, the clydesdale, the percheron vie

With the shire on his feathers floating

Hauling soft timber into the dusk

To bed on a warm straw coating.

Heavy horses, move the land under me

Behind the plough gliding slipping and sliding free

Now youre down to the few

And theres no work to do

The tractors on its way.

Let me find you a filly for your proud stallion seed

To keep the old line going.

And well stand you abreast at the back of the woods

Behind the young trees growing

To hide you from eyes that mock at your girth,

Youre eighteen hands at the shoulder

And one day when the oil barons have all dripped dry

And the nights are seen to draw colder

Theyll beg for your strength, your gentle power

Your noble grace and your bearing

And youll strain once again to the sound of the gulls

In the wake of the deep plough, sharing.

Standing like tanks on the brow of the hill

Up into the cold wind facing

In stiff battle harness, chained to the world

Against the low sun racing

Bring me a wheel of oaken wood

A rein of polished leather

A heavy horse and a tumbling sky

Brewing heavy weather.

Bring a song for the evening

Clean brass to flash the dawn

Across these acres glistening

Like dew on a carpet lawn

In these dark towns folk lie sleeping

As the heavy horses thunder by

To wake the dying city

With the living horsemans cry

At once the old hands quicken

Bring pick and wisp and curry comb

Thrill to the sound of all

The heavy horses coming home.

Iron-clad feather-feet pounding the dust

On octobers day, towards evening

Sweat embossed veins standing proud to the plough

Salt on a deep chest, seasoning

Bring me a wheel of oaken wood

A rein of polished leather

A heavy horse and a tumbling sky

Brewing heavy weather.

Heavy horses, move the land under me

Behind the plough gliding slipping and sliding free

Now youre down to the few

And theres no work to do

The tractors on its way.

Rush - Dreamline

He's got a road map of Jupiter

A radar fix on the stars

All along the highway

She's got a liquid-crystal compass

A picture book of the rivers

Under the Sahara

They travel in the time of the prophets

On a desert highway straight to the heart of the sun

Like lovers and heroes, and the restless part of everyone

We're only at home when we're on the run

On the run

He's got a star map of Hollywood

A list of cheap motels

All along the freeway

She's got a sister out in Vegas

The promise of a decent job

Far away from her hometown

They travel on the road to redemption

A highway out of yesterday -- that tomorrow will bring

Like lovers and heroes, birds in the last days of spring

We're only at home when we're on the wing

On the wing

When we are young

Wandering the face of the Earth

Wondering what our dreams might be worth

Learning that we're only immortal

For a limited time

Time is a gypsy caravan

Steals away in the night

To leave you stranded in Dreamland

Distance is a long-range filter

Memory a flickering light

Left behind in the heartland

We travel in the dark of the new moon

A starry highway traced on the map of the sky

Like lovers and heroes, lonely as the eagle's cry

We're only at home when we're on the fly

On the fly

When we are young

Wandering the face of the Earth

Wondering what our dreams might be worth

Learning that we're only immortal

For a limited time

We travel on the road to adventure

On a desert highway straight to the heart of the sun

Like lovers and hereos, and the restless part of everyone

We're only at home when we're on the run

On the run...

Queen - Drowse

It's the sad-eyed goodbye

Yesterday's moments I remember

It's the bleak street, weak-kneed partings I recall

It's the mistier mists the hazier days

The brighter sun and the easier lays

There's all the more reason for laughing and crying

When you're younger and life isn't to hard at all

It's the fantastic drowse

Of the afternoon Sundays

That bored you to rages of tears

The unending pleadings

To waste all your good times

In thoughts of your middle-aged years

It's the vertical hold all the things that you're told

For the everyday hero it all turns to zero

And there's all the more reason

For living or dying when you're young

And your troubles are all very small

Out here on the street we'd gather and meet

And scuff up the sidewalk

With endlessly restless feet

Half on the time we'd broaden our minds

More in the pool hall

Than we did in the school hall

With the down town chewing gum bums

Watching the night life the lights and the fun

Never wanted to be the boy next door

Always thought I'd be something more

But it ain't easy for a small town boy

It ain't easy at all

Thinkin' it right and doin' it wrong

It's easier from an arm chair

Waves of alternatives wash over my sleepiness

Have my eggs poached for breakfast I guess

I think I'll be Clint Eastwood

Jimi Hendrix he was good

Let's try William the conqueror

Now who else do I like?

"Baby's on Fire" by Brian Eno

Baby's on fire

Better throw her in the water

Look at her laughing

Like a heifer to the slaughter

Baby's on fire

And all the laughing boys are bitching

Waiting for photos

Oh the plot is so bewitching

Rescuers row row

Do your best to change the subject

Blow the wind blow blow

Lend some assistance to the object

Photographers snip snap

Take your time she's only burning

This kind of experience

Is necessary for her learning

If you'll be my flotsam

I could be half the man I used to

They said you were hot stuff

And that's what Baby's been reduced to...

Juanita and Juan

Very clever with maraccas

Making their fortunes

Selling second-hand tobaccoes

Juan dances at Chico's

And when the clients are evicted

He empties the ashtrays

And pockets all that he's collected

But Baby's on fire!

And all the instruments agree that

Her temperature's rising

But any idiot would know that

Queen - My Melancholy Blues

Another party's over and I'm left cold sober

My baby left me for somebody new

I don't wanna talk about it want to forget about it

Wanna be intoxicated with that special brew

So come and get me

Let me

Get in that sinking feeling that says my heart is

On an all time low - so

Don't expect me to behave perfectly

And wear that sunny smile, my guess is I'm in

For a cloudy and overcast

Don't try and stop me

Cos I'm heading for that stormy weather soon

I'm causing a mild sensation with this new occupation

I'm permanently glued to this extraordinary mood - one of the greatest lines ever written

So now move over

Let me take over

With my

Melancholy blues

I'm causing a mild sensation with this new occupation

I'm in the news

Im just getting used to my new exposure

So come into my enclosure

And meet my

Melancholy blues

Jethro Tull - Look Into The Sun

To the sad song of one sweet evening

I smiled and quickly turned away.

It's not easy singing sad songs

But still the easiest way I have to say.

So when you look into the sun

And see the things we havent done --

Oh was it better then to run

Than to spend the summer crying.

Now summer cannot come anyway.

I had waited for time to change her.

The only change that came was over me.

She pretended not to want love --

I hope she was only fooling me.

So when you look into the sun

Look for the pleasures nearly won.

Or was it better then to run

Than to spend the summer singing.

And summer could have come in a day.

So if you hear my sad song singing

Remember who and what you nearly had.

Its not easy singing sad songs

When you can sing the song to make me glad.

So when you look into the sun

And see the words you could have sung:

Its not too late, only begun,

We can still make summer.

Yes, summer always comes anyway.

So when you look into the sun

And see the words you could have sung:

Its not too late, only begun.

Look into the sun.

"Visions of Johanna" by Bob Dylan

Ain't it just like the night to play tricks when you're tryin' to be so quiet?

We sit here stranded, though we're all doin' our best to deny it

And Louise holds a handful of rain, temptin' you to defy it

Lights flicker from the opposite loft

In this room the heat pipes just cough

The country music station plays soft

But there's nothing, really nothing to turn off

Just Louise and her lover so entwined

And these visions of Johanna that conquer my mind

In the empty lot where the ladies play blindman's bluff with the key chain

And the all-night girls they whisper of escapades out on the "D" train

We can hear the night watchman click his flashlight

Ask himself if it's him or them that's really insane

Louise, she's all right, she's just near

She's delicate and seems like the mirror

But she just makes it all too concise and too clear

That Johanna's not here

The ghost of 'lectricity howls in the bones of her face

Where these visions of Johanna have now taken my place

Now, little boy lost, he takes himself so seriously

He brags of his misery, he likes to live dangerously

And when bringing her name up

He speaks of a farewell kiss to me

He's sure got a lotta gall to be so useless and all

Muttering small talk at the wall while I'm in the hall

How can I explain?

Oh, it's so hard to get on

And these visions of Johanna, they kept me up past the dawn

Inside the museums, Infinity goes up on trial

Voices echo this is what salvation must be like after a while

But Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues

You can tell by the way she smiles

See the primitive wallflower freeze

When the jelly-faced women all sneeze

Hear the one with the mustache say, "Jeeze

I can't find my knees"

Oh, jewels and binoculars hang from the head of the mule

But these visions of Johanna, they make it all seem so cruel

The peddler now speaks to the countess who's pretending to care for him

Sayin', "Name me someone that's not a parasite and I'll go out and say a prayer for him"

But like Louise always says

"Ya can't look at much, can ya man?"

As she, herself, prepares for him

And Madonna, she still has not showed

We see this empty cage now corrode

Where her cape of the stage once had flowed

The fiddler, he now steps to the road

He writes ev'rything's been returned which was owed

On the back of the fish truck that loads

While my conscience explodes

The harmonicas play the skeleton keys and the rain

And these visions of Johanna are now all that remain

"I Should Have Known Better" by Wire

In an act of contrition

I lay down by your side

It's not your place to comment

On my state of distress

For this is for real

I've tears in my eyes

Am I laughing or crying?

I suggest I'm not lying

I haven't found a measure yet to

Calibrate my displeasure yet so

To ignore my warning

Could be your folly

The judgment is harsh

I offer no plea

Valuing the vengeance which you treasure

I've redefined the meaning of vendetta

The procession's disordered

You protect your possessions

In light of your actions

I question your love

May I make an observation

Your bite is worse than my aggression

I should have known better

I should have known better

Than to become a target

Albeit a target which moves

No offer of terms or concessions

For statements or confessions

You don't feel warm

I pass close by

You shiver, I whisper

Excuse me, what's your problem?

Oh, I see

I should have known better

"The Other Window" by Wire

He took his seat on the foreign train

He thought it pleasant to travel again

Mindful of the journey's end

He read again the letter from his friend

Time passed as it often does

The seat was hard, the carriage fetid

He was dressed for summer, but still he sweated

It was better than being home

Feeling the cold, and living alone

Time passed slowly

Around him people spoke in French

Despite schooldays it made no sense

Occasional stares caught his eye

He was tempted to smile, but

Being shy, time passed

When he looked through the window

For the thousandth time

He saw a black horse fighting for its life

In a barbed wire fence

Fatally tangled

The more it struggled

The more it was strangled

Time sped up

He turned away

There was nothing he could do

The other window

Had a nicer view

Time passed painfully

Two of my fave Tony Banks songs:

Diamonds Aren't So Hard

Don't let it bring you down

Your woman's gone and left you

The taxman's here he's knocking on your door - oh

Don't let it bring you down

Your brand new house is burning

They're dumping toxic waste in your backyard - oh

Your next door neighbour's gone and won the pools

The life's so bad you wish that it was all over - over

You and I

Could leave this all behind

Dream a little

Leave ourselves behind

Come with me

Where dragons rule the air

And diamonds aren't so hard to find

And come what may

Heroes never fail

And time stands still

No matter if you're young or old

Don't let it bring you down

Nothing lasts for ever

Even female movie stars grow old - oh

We try to break the rules and never age

We try so hard but everything's in vain

Then one day you wake and find that it's all over - over

You and I

Could leave this all behind

Dream a little

Leave ourselves behind

Come with me

Where dragons rule the air

And diamonds aren't so hard to find

And come what may

Heroes never fail

And time stands still

No matter if you're young or old

So come with me

Where dragons rule the air

And diamonds aren't so hard to find...

A House Needs A Roof

Wandering in a daze

Through a cold mechanical maze

I am lost and confused

I am always the loser

You tell me there's a place

Where I can be alive

Is it near is it far is it somewhere between

This land you say exists that I've never seen

Call me please talk to me tell me the truth

I need to believe like a house needs a roof

Is it strange is it wonderful I need to know

Do you have a picture that you can show

The minute to capture the moment has come

The minute to capture the moment has come

It's easy to believe

But less easy to imagine

I've grown so used to not coping

Waiting eternally hoping

Wishes come and go

But this one will stay I know

Could the time for adventure be

Just around the corner

Is it near is it far is it somewhere between

The land you say exists that I've never seen

Call me please talk to me tell me the truth

I need to believe like a house needs a roof

Is it strange is it wonderful I need to know

Do you have a picture that you can show

The minute to capture the moment has come

The minute to capture the moment has come

I wonder if it's true

Do I put my faith in you

Do I risk one more failure

To add to this tale

Or do I turn my back

And slowly walk away

Please tell me if you know

Is it near is it far is it somewhere between

The land you say exists that I've never seen

Call me please talk to me tell me the truth

I need to believe like a house needs a roof

Is it strange is it wonderful I need to know

Do you have a picture that you can show

The minute to capture the moment has come

The minute to capture the moment has come

Skateaway

I seen a girl on a one way corridor

stealing down a wrong way street

for all the world like an urban toreador

she had wheels on on her feet

well the cars do the usual dances

same old cruise and the kerbside crawl

but the rollergirl she's taking chances

they just love to see her take them all

no fears alone at night she's sailing through the crowd

in her ears the phones are tight and the music's playing loud

hallelujah here she comes queen rollerball

enchante what can I say don't care at all

you know she used to have to wait around

she used to be the lonely one

but now that she can skate around town

she's the only one

no fears alone at night she's sailing through the crowd

in her ears the phones are tight and the music's playing loud

she gets rock n roll a rock n roll station

and a rock n roll dream

she's making movies on location

she don't know what it means

but the music make her wanna be the story

and the story was whatever was the song what it was

rollergirl don't worry

d.j. play the movies all night long

she tortures taxi drivers just for fun

she like to read their lips

says toro toro taxi see ya tomorrow my son

I swear she let a big truck grease her hip

she got her own world in the city

you can't intrude on her

she got her own world in the city

the city's been so rude to her

no fears alone at night she's sailing through the crowd

in her ears the phones are tight and the music's playing loud

she gets rock n roll a rock n roll station

and a rock n roll dream

she's making movies on location

she don't know what it means

but the music make her wanna be the story

and the story was whatever was the song what it was

rollergirl don't worry

d.j. play the movies all night long

come slippin and slidin

life's a roller ball

slippin and a slidin

skateaway that's all

Genesis- In the Cage

I got sunshine in my stomach

Like I just rocked my baby to sleep.

I got sunshine in my stomach

But I can't keep me from creeping sleep,

Sleep, deep in the deep.

Rockface moves to press my skin

White liquid turn sour within

Turn fast - turn sour

Turn sweat - turn sour.

Must tell myself that I'm not here.

I'm drowning in a liquid fear.

Bottled in a strong compression,

My distortion shows obsession

In the cave.

Get me out of this cave!

If I keep my self-control,

I'll be safe in my soul.

And the childhood belief

Brings a moment's relief,

But my cynic soon returns

And the lifeboat burns.

My spirit just never learns.

Stalactites, stalagmites

Shut me in, lock me tight.

Lips are dry, throat is dry.

Feel like burning, stomach churning,

I'm dressed up in a white costume

Padding out leftover room.

Body stretching, feel the wretching

In the cage

Get me out of the cage!

In the glare of a light,

I see a strange kind of sight;

Of cages joined to form a star

Each person can't go very far;

All tied to their things

They're netted by their strings,

Free to flutter in memories of their wasted wings.

Outside the cage I see my Brother John,

He turns his head so slowly round.

I cry out Help! before he can be gone,

And he looks at me without a sound.

And I shout out 'John please help me!'

But he does not even want to try to speak.

I'm helpless in my violent rage

And a silent tear of blood dribbles down his cheek,

And I watch him turn away and leave the cage.

My little runaway.

(Raindrops keep failing on my head, they keep falling on my...)

In a trap, feel a strap

Holding still. Pinned for kill.

Chances narrow that I'll make it,

In the cushioned straight-jacket.

Just like 22nd Street,

They got me by my neck and feet.

Pressures building, can't take more.

My headaches charge, earaches roar.

In this pain

Get me out of this pain.

If I could change to liquid,

I could fill the cracks up in the rocks.

I know that I am solid

And I am my own bad luck.

Outside John disappears, my cage dissolves,

without any reason my body revolves.

Keep on turning

Keep on turning...

Turning around

just spinning around.

Vincent- Don McLean

Starry, starry night

Paint your palette blue and gray

Look out on a summer's day

With eyes that know the darkness in my soul...

Shadows on the hills

Sketch the trees and the daffodils

Catch the breeze and the winter chills

In colors on the snowy linen land.

Now I understand

What you tried to say to me

And how you suffered for your sanity

And how you tried to set them free

They would not listen; they did not know how --

Perhaps they'll listen now.

Starry, starry night

Flaming flowers that brightly blaze

Swirling clouds in violet haze

Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue

Colors changing hue

Morning fields of amber grain

Weathered faces lined in pain

Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand.

Now I understand

What you tried to say to me

And how you suffered for your sanity

And how you tried to set them free

They would not listen; they did not know how --

Perhaps they'll listen now.

For they could not love you

But still, your love was true

And when no hope was left inside

On that starry, starry night

You took your life as lovers often do --

But I could've told you, Vincent:

This world was never meant

For one as beautiful as you.

Starry, Starry night

Portraits hung in empty halls

Frameless heads on nameless walls

With eyes that watch the world and can't forget

Like the strangers that you've met

The ragged men in ragged clothes

The silver thorn, a bloody rose

Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow.

Now I think I know

What you tried to say to me

And how you suffered for your sanity

And how you tried to set them free

They would not listen; they're not listening still --

Perhaps they never will...

Les Morts Dansant - Magnum

Cannons roared in the valley they thundered

While the guns lit up the night

Then it rained and both sides wondered

Who is wrong and who is right

On the wire like a ragged old scarecrow

Bloody hands and broken back

When they fire see him pirouette solo

Jump in time to the rat a tat

What a night though it's one of seven

What night for the dancing dead

What a night to be called to heaven

What a picture to fill your head

By the wall in a silouette standing

Through a flash of sudden light

Cigarette from his mouth just hanging

Paper square to his heart pinned tight

Gather round reluctant marksmen

One of them to take his life

With a smile he gives them pardon

Leaves the dark and takes the light

What a night though it's one of seven

What night for the dancing dead

What a night to be called to heaven

What a picture to fill your head

They dispatch their precious cargo

Knock him back right off his feet

And they pray may no one follow

Better still to face the beast

When the field has become a garden

And the wall has stood the test

Children play and the dogs run barking

Who would think or who would guess

What a night though it's one of seven

What night for the dancing dead

What a night to be called to heaven

What a picture to fill your head

Frank Zappa - Montana

I might be movin' to Montana soon

Just to raise me up a crop of Dental Floss

Raisin' it up, waxin' it down

In a little white box

that I can sell uptown

By myself I wouldn't

have no boss,

But I'd be raisin' my lonely Dental Floss

Raisin' my lonely Dental Floss

Well I just might grow me some bees

But I'd leave the sweet stuff

For somebody else...

but then, on the other hand

I would keep the wax n' melt it down

Pluck some Floss n' swish it aroun'

I'd have me a crop

An' it'd be on top

(that's why I'm movin' to Montana)

Movin' to Montana soon

Gonna be a Dental Floss tycoon

(yes I am)

Movin' to Montana soon

Gonna be a Mennal-Toss Flycoon (say what?)

AWESOME GUITAR SOLO AS ONLY ZAPPA CAN DELIVER

I'm pluckin' the ol' Dental Floss

That's growin' on the prairie

Pluckin' the floss!

I plucked all day an' all nite an' all Afternoon...

I'm ridin' a small tiny hoss

(His name is MIGHTY LITTLE)

He's a good hoss

Even though he's a bit dinky to strap a big saddle or

Blanket on anyway...anyway

He's a bit dinky to strap a big saddle or

Blanket on anyway

Any way I'm pluckin' the ol' Dennil Floss

Even if you think it is a little silly, folks

I don't care if you think it's silly, folks

I don't care if you think it's silly, folks

I'm gonna find me a horse

Just about this big

And ride him all along the border line

With a Pair of heavy-duty

Zyrcon-encrusted tweezers in my hand

Every other wrangler would say

I was mighty grand

By myself I wouldn't

Have no boss

But I'd be raisin' my lonely Dental Floss

Raisin' my lonely Dental Floss

Raisin' my lonely Dental Floss

Well I might Ride along the border

With my tweezers gleamin'

In the moon-lighty night

And then I'd get a cuppa cawfee

N' give my foot a push...

Just me 'n the pymgy pony

Over the Dental Floss Bush

N' then I might just Jump back on

An' ride like a cowboy

Into the dawn of Montana

Movin' to Montana soon

(Yippy-I-O-Ty-Ay)

Movin' to Montana soon

Repeat refrain.

John Entwistle - I Believe in Everything

Have you ever had the feeling that you've been this place before

But you haven't, not in this life

You've seen it, you've done it, you've heard it all before

But you haven't, not in this life.

Do you believe in Santa Claus and loving at first sight

I hope you do, cause I do

Do you believe in ghosts that rattle chains at dead of night

I hope you do, cause I do.

Cause I believe in everything

Cause that's the simplest way for me to be

I believe in everything

To believe in everything you hear and see.

Cause I believe in everything

Cause that's the simplest way for me to be

I believe in everything

To believe in everything you hear and see.

Have you ever had the feeling that you've been this place before

But you haven't, not in this life

You've seen it, you've done it, you've heard it all before

But you haven't, not in this life.

Do you believe in witchcraft, Heaven and Hell, King Kong

Reincarnation, fairies at the bottom of the garden

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, goblins, ghouls and witches

Things that go bump in the night

Telepathy, eternal youth, Mickey Mouse, Father Christmas.

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer

Had a very shiny nose

And if you ever saw it you would even say it glows

All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names...

John Entwistle - The Window Shopper

The Window Shopper

I'm waiting at the end of your garden

Waiting for you to turn on the light

I don't care if your husband's there

I'm hidden by the night

I can't afford to buy the kind of dirty books

That show naked ladies with big chests

I can't afford to pay a woman to keep we warm at night

But that don't mean that I can't show no interest.

There's no cause for alarm

I don't mean no harm

I'm just looking

I'm just hoping for a glimpse

Of something I've never had and never will

I'm just window shopping.

That's why I'm waiting at the end of your garden

Waiting for you to turn on the light

I don't care if your husband's there

I'm hidden by the night.

I can't afford to buy the kind of books

That show naked ladies with big chests

I can't afford to buy a woman to keep we warm at night

But that don't mean that I can't show no interest.

There's no cause for alarm

I don't mean no harm

I'm just looking

I'm just hoping for a glimpse

Of something I've never had and never will

I'm just window shopping.

That's why I'm waiting at the end of your garden

Waiting for you to turn on the light

Please don't draw the curtains

Or I won't sleep tonight.

I can't afford to buy the kind of dirty books

That show naked ladies with big chests

I can't afford to buy a woman to keep we warm at night

But that don't mean that I can't show no interest.

I can't afford to buy the kind of dirty books

That show naked ladies with big chests

I can't afford to buy a woman to keep we warm at night

But that don't mean that I can't show no interest.

Against Me! - T.S.R. (This Shit Rules)

The party's over

A CD's skipping

It's the same hook repeating

Grows more grating with each passing second...

And the walls contain a resonation, laughter, and conversation

It was fun while it lasted, but now we should be going

I hope everybody had a real, real good time

The hospitality's partaken, my head is flying, my heart's racing to keep up

And I hope I haven't overdone it, no...

I hope my body can take it

I hope I make the occasion

It's only this f*cked up I start realizing all this living is just dying

and if these are my friends, if this is my home

if this is how i spend my nights

how I communicate, and demonstrate a love of life...

My eyes roll into the back of my head

if these are the last words that I've ever said

No, I'm not ready to die just yet

"Jump Around" by House of Pain

Pack it up, pack it in

Let me begin

I came to win

Battle me that's a sin

I won't tear the sack up

Punk you'd better back up

Try and play the role and the whole crew will act up

Get up, stand up, come on!

Come on, throw your hands up

If you've got the feeling jump across the ceiling

Muggs is a funk fest, someone's talking junk

Yo, I'll bust em in the eye

And then I'll take the punks home

Feel it, funk it

Amps it are junking

And I got more rhymes than there's cops that are dunking

Donuts shop

Sure 'nuff I got props from the kids on the Hill

Plus my mom and my pops

[Chorus]

I came to get down [2x]

So get out your seats and jump around

Jump around [3x]

Jump up Jump up and get down.

Jump [18x]

I'll serve your ass like John MacEnroe

If your steps up, I'm smacking the ho

Word to your moms I came to drop bombs

I got more rhymes than the bible's got psalms

And just like the Prodigal Son I've returned

Anyone stepping to me you'll get burned

Cause I got lyrics and you ain't got none

So if you come to battle bring a shotgun

But if you do you're a fool, cause I duel to the death

Try and step to me you'll take your last breath

I gots the skill, come get your fill

Cause when I shoot ta give, I shoot to kill

[Chorus]

I'm the cream of the crop, I rise to the top

I never eat a pig cause a pig is a cop

Or better yet a terminator

Like Arnold Schwarzenegger

Try'n to play me out like as if my name was Sega

But I ain't going out like no punk bitch

Get used to one style and you know I might switch

It up up and around, then buck buck you down

Put out your head then you wake up in the Dawn of the Dead

I'm coming to get ya, coming to get ya

Spitting out lyrics homie I'll wet ya

[Chorus]

Jump [32x]

Yo, this is dedicated

To Joe, da flava, Dakota

Grag yo bozac, punk
