Missing Persons anyone?

Ex-Zappa members, like Terry Bozzio.
Kewl sound.
Its here the Lady Gaga-fashion saw the light of the day.

Missing Persons wrote three of the catchiest pop songs I've eve heard.

"Words"

"Walking in L.A."

"Destination Unknown"

^ I was supposed to see Missing Persons last year, but Dale Bozzio was sick and couldn't perform. Bummer.

I'm sure you can guess I'm going to say the Fixx - they have a bunch of great songs beyond their handful of hits, are great live, sometimes do meet and greets/stay after shows for their fans, and have in the last couple of years returned to their longest-running lineup with the return of bass player Dan K. Brown.

I only wish they could get their new album out - we've been waiting seven or so years now - and that they were still touring as extensively as they were even a few years ago. Nowadays, if you aren't in California, your chances of seeing them close by aren't too good. sad.gif

Robin Trower. He's an excellent guitarist, most people have no clue who he is.

I do.

I do too. Suppose that's why I've seen him 6 times. tongue.gif 1022.gif

Good thread btw.

He's great live 1022.gif He should have been as popular as Hendrix.

Just saw Robin Trower a few weeks ago, I could have sat and watched him for hours, he was mesmerizing.

Others:

Eyes - 80's hair metal

Good call whoever mentioned Head East - Still love Flat as a Pancake

Starz - a little record called Violation, good stuff, a great band everyone has forgot about.

Trower was here in March. Needless to say, I went and loved every minute of it. Did some songs I had never seen live. "Somebody Calling" was one of them and it sounded real good.

King's X never got a fair shake, IMO. They were far superior to a lot of the metal/hard rock/prog-metal that was out there at the time.

Absolutely. Couldnt agree more. They are criminally underrated

They came out at the wrong time. They were too wierd for the Hard Rock/Hair Metal crowd, but not " alternative " enough for the college radio crowd.

Split Enz got some airplay during MTV's early years, but never broke big here. Of course Neil Finn got some mainstream success with Crowded House, but the Enz was much better IMHO.

I was just thinking of a list of bands from down under that deserved recognition, and Split Enz was one of the bands. "Hard Act To Follow" got some air time in the States, but you're right, they never got as big as they might have.

Three other bands on my list would be the Church, the Angels (aka Angel City), and Cold Chisel.
