I tried to restrain myself. Like each of you, to be sure, I feel music deeply. I rarely listen to music that doesn't personally and powerfully resonate within me. That said, these are the songs that have meant the most to me over the years and conjure the strongest emotional response—the songs that can really make me choke up, or take me to a time and place where something monumental in my personal life unfolded:

Little Feat - Fool Yourself

The Black Crowes - Descending

The Black Crowes - My Morning Song

The Black Crowes - Cursed Diamond

Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill

Van Morrison - Saint Dominic's Preview

The Who - Love Reign O'er Me

The Rolling Stones - Moonlight Mile

Yes - And You and I

Jackson Browne - These Days

Jackson Browne - The Birds of St. Marks

Nick Drake - Hazey Jane I

David Bowie and Queen - Under Pressure

Sun Kil Moon - Salvador Sanchez

Chris Squire - You By My Side

The Cure - A Letter to Elise

John Lennon - Watching the Wheels

George Harrison - All Things Must Pass

Graham Nash - Simple Man

Idaho - This Cloud We're On

Magnolia Electric Co. - Just Be Simple

Neil Young - Borrowed Tune

Richard Buckner - Song of 27

Smog - Teenage Spaceship

Strugglers - Necrophilia

Townes Van Zandt - Only Him or Me

U2 - Bad

Marathon by :rush: - Just for the guitar solo.

Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own by U2 - I haven't seen my estranged dad in 18 years and many of his family members haven't seen him for a while since I reconnected with them on Facebook. He's in his mid 60s so this hits close to home for me and it's only one of 2 songs I can't listen to without crying my eyes out.

The Cure - A Thousand Hours,The Same Deep Water As You

Garbage - Cup Of Coffee

Smashing Pumpkins - Once Upon A Time,Galapogos,To Forgive

The Verve - The Drugs Don't Work

John Lennon - Jealous Guy

The Who - Love Reign O'er Me

Phil Collins - I Wish It Would Rain Down On Me (See U2 regarding the crying eyes out part.)

INXS - Don't Change

Pearl Jam - Nothing As It Seems,Indifference,Black

Pink Floyd - Dogs,Wish You Were Here,Hey You,Comfortably Numb

The Smiths - Well I Wonder

Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence

Alice In Chains - Whale & Wasp,Don't Follow

Nice thread idea. For me these are songs that when you hear them, immediately take you back to a time and a place.

Number one for me is Lazy by Deep Purple!

This was my very first favorite song ever from the time my big brother brought the Machine Head album home because he heard it on a ride at an exhibition. I was about 6 or 7 at the time .. :)

Other song that have this effect on me are:

More than a feeling - Boston

I was made for lovin you - Kiss

Armageddon - Prism

Angel of death - Thin Lizzy

Fool's overture - Supertramp
