I love Janis Joplin's music. She hails from Port Arthur, Texas.

 

I read in a Janis Joplin book that "The Rose" was originally going to be about Janis Joplin specifically, but they then decided to have the movie represent a basic rock star with issues such as drugs. Sissy Spacek was considered for the Janis Joplin movie before they changed the concept.
