Had no idea Crissie Hynde sang backup on Pride by U2 until yesterday. Things you learn on Sirius XM 80s on 8 from an original MTV VJ. She was credited as Kerr since she was married to the lead singer of Simple Minds then. Fitting, since they sounded like U2 a lot on Once Upon A Time.

I had no idea either. I can't even hear her.

Can you?

Great intro and I love the guitar in that song. It was on account of this song that I went to see them in 1987 or '88.

Al Di Meola just introduced me to a whole new world of guitar!

Was scrolling through the thread and saw this, been a fan of Al for years. What introduced you? For me it was Casino and Elegant Gypsy.

It took me two days to watch a 43 minute video about The Mamas and The Papas, but it was good. I never knew these things about them.

I'm not really a fan but can't deny the genius of California Dreamin'...easily my fave M&P.

Steevo, I'm not a fan either but, if you have 40 minutes to spare, it's not a bad documentary.

Eddie Van Halen gets more and more fascinating the more you listen to him play. Sure Eruption rips your ears out the first time you hear it, but it somehow continues to be mesmerizing the 50th time you hear it. Same goes for everything else he's on. I think my last know top 5 guitarists list is garbage because I didn't have EVH there. Thought he was a bit of a one-trick pony. Clearly I just hadn't done enough of my homework.
