bluefox4000
The beatles are amazing.......i just got done with a 9 year break. And at that time i never wanted to hear another record from them again. and it's during that time that i convinced myself they were overrated. it bordered on an unreasonable hatred and resentment. Silly i know but it happened that way. but coming back they are My fav band. Sorry to. RushFloydTotoDream TheaterYesGenesisSteely Dan And any other band i can think of. The Beatles are it. They created my fav Album.......the White album which is to me one of the greatest achievements in popular music. Thank you to the fab four. MickI love that the White Album is all over the place, yet perfectly paced. It ebbs and flows between commerical appeal and the musical fringes of the time. It's mainstream, it's pop. It's grunge. It's country. It's blues. It's weird. It's corny. It's demanding. It's trivial. And all it is is wrapped in wonderful melodies. One moment you want to bang your head against the wall, the next moment you're tapping your foot. One moment you're contemplating philosophy, the next you feel like a kid again. The Beatles were unraveling and they made an unraveled album that sounds perfectly connected. I said earlier it's like a messy collection of short stories and little scenes and plays that seem odd and disoriented.....but mesh wonderfully. I adore that record so much Mick Edited April 16, 2015 by bluefox4000

ReRushed
It is still too early in the listening process, but I think Built to Spill might have just released one of their best albums ever. And the new Wire album is an absolute grower. Another really good album the unacknowledged masters.

Lorraine
I've got a random music thought. If you have original vinyls of all of the old albums, treasure them. If you can afford to buy them, get them. There's nothing like the original recordings. In my opinion, and according to my ears, they've destroyed masterpiece album with their remastering and cds. It breaks my heart to listen to them. Nothing sounds the same. If this is considered an improvement over the original recording, you can keep it. I'm sorry I ever let my album collection go.
Lorraine
I'm really very upset. All of these horrid remasters sound like the remastered VT - all the instruments are separated. Nothing flows. Everything seems to be playing in a separate compartment. They are horrible. There should be disclaimers on the cd packaging: Warning: This compact disc version of the album does not sound exactly the same.
Lorraine
They ought to pay people to take them. Or give them away in boxes of Cracker Jacks.

greyfriar
Just saw Dream Theater's Wacken 2015 show. Holy shit, LaBrie was worse than useless. Just terrible. At times the whole thing sounded like a yelp competition between LaBrie and Petrucci's guitar. Glad that I gave up over 20 years ago.

It certainly isn't a great voice, but overall I can tolerate it on the studio recordings!
