SMARTIES  wub.gif
*Dont forget the little tune that goes with them*
"When you eat your Smarties do you eat the red ones last?..Do you suck them very slowly?.. Or crunch them very fast?"

And a question...Do they have Smarties everywhere?  or is it just a Canadain thing?  confused13.gif

I don't think it's just a Canadian thing, but it's certainly not a USA thing.

My husband is a big fan of them, but his family used to get them either from Lebanon or Japan (not sure which).

I've never seen them in the US - except for specialty/import stores. They probably don't want to complete against M&Ms!!

Some other great chocolates that we poor Yankees don't have easy access to:

- Cadbury Flakes

- Nestle Aero Bars

YUM!! I think I'll have to take a (long) road trip to CA to get some!! [Or make friends with someone in CA who will mail them to me - Any takers?!?!]

There is NOTHING better (ok maybe "nothing better" is too strong of a phrase...)

There is ALMOST nothing better than strawberries dipped in chocolate.

Dark chocolate ganache and a big bowl of strawberries...

Add a bottle of sparkling white Zin and someone to share it with...

ummm nice idea, but this stuff tastes like garbage.

(no I am NOT telling you how I know)

Just make the chocolate ganache a little on the thin side.

It's easy to do and tastes SOOOOOO much better.

She will be mighty impressed that you would make the extra effort and go homemade wink.gif

TRUFFLES

There's a chocolate shop in Bar Harbor, ME, (Ben and Bill's) that sells the BIGGEST truffles I've ever seen! They're larger than a golf ball (almost 3x the normal truffle size).

Every time we go to Acadia National Park, my hubby lets me get 6 or 12 of them to bring home. We vacuum seal them to keep them longer. It's the ultimate chocolate rush to eat an entire one by yourself.

I also make my own truffles every year at Xmas. As my hubby says, "How do you make chocolate more fattening? Add Heavy Cream!" I make 4-8 different flavors, depending on how much time I have. Making the ganache is simple enough, but then rolling and coving or dipping the truffles gets quite time consuming. But they are SOOOO Good!!
