Jigglevision

This seems to be a trend. More and more films are using the shaky camera to give the effect of a documentary or some added realism. (Cloverfield, The Kingdom, The Bourne series)

I hate this. It ruins the movie for me and gives my wife a headache. I know I have complained about this before but there must be some who like it. Why?

I must admit... I came into this thread hoping "jigglevision" was a much more exciting technology.

 

 

Anywhooo.... I haven't seen it overused or whatever... haven't seen Cloverfield but the only other films that come to mind are Blair Witch Project and The Evil Dead ... and I sure enjoyed those movies...

I picked #3. It worked in a movie like Cloverfield, but at the same time I wouldn't want too many films to be like that. Feast, for example.....loved the movie, thought it was geat fun, but the shaky camera was unnecessary.

Its a coool way to shoot a movie but after and two hours it does get really annoying. But then again if only a little of a movie was shot in J-vision it would seem out of place; so with those in mind Jiggle-vision shoul only be used in short films.

It depends on the movie & subject material. All things being equal a little moderate use of jigglevision can add to a flick but it can kill a picture for me.

Jigglevision is OK to a point but gets really annoying when its over used.

I liken it to the spinning Fight scene camera work that has become the latest trend in Action movie these days.
