I finally got a guitar that I'm willing to completely strip and customize (free from a friend who mever used it). It's an old Squier Tele. I don't really care how it sounds, have other guitars for that, I just want to make it personal. And by personal, I mean turning it into a tribute to Rush. I was thinking about painting the arrow from S&A up the fretboard, and having the Starman painted on the pickguard. I was also seeing being put on the 3rd fret.

 

Thoughts? Too excessive? I just want to make it different, really, and figured it would be cool to have a completely Rush-ized guitar

Sounds cool - don't wanna put to mcuh on it though - I think 'Rush' on the 3rd fret and the S&A arrow would be enough

What about the P/g symbol or binoculars near the tone/volume knobs or the toggle switch

Yeah, but you still want it to look classy, not something that you will be tried of quickly.....

 

If i could get my way I would have this guitar, with the R30 logo air brushed behind the bridge - assuming the maroons are the same shade (unfortuntaely my photoshop is acting up and I can merge these two pics, but you get the idea. (sorta like 5150)

 

Simple, classic, yet Rushified!!
