tangy
http://www.myspace.com/beholdthearctopus'> http://www.myspace.com/beholdthearctopus Excellent power trio. I am super impressed with what i have heard so far on thie myspace page, this is the sort of shit i like!. Energetic instrumental music. Fans of Liquid Tension Experiment take note! I was checking these guys out because they are opening for the upcoming Between the buried and me show I will be attending. I think i like them better than the headliner now...Best new instrumental group I have heard in quite some time, really, check them out.

naturalsciences101
These guys are whacked out. I've listened to the schtuff only a handful o' times, but there doesn't appear to be any structure to their music in the least. I do admit to an avant garde side, so I'm open to this kida stuff to a point. But, the drummer of Arctopus is an another intsru-metal collective that is much better. The other band's name is Blotted Science. These boys just out the gate with their first. I posted their MySpace link on the Liquid Tension thread. Then, ya got the monsters of the past like Spiral Architect, Spastic Ink and Watchtower. I can take all this stuff in very small doses. In fact, I need it in my blood stream, but in small doses. It does sumthin for me brain. It transmogrifies my noggin.
Prince Sphinc-Tor
Is there supposed to be talking all over the music? Are these guys the kids of the Arctomom?
naturalsciences101
Oh, snap. There's another band that's just slicker than spit. That's PSYOPUS. They're slicker than aligator schitt. No joke. Nah, but for serious. They way technical, but not for the faint of heart. Schitt is way noisy and hardcore. And, in the immortal words of Jack Black, 'you're not hardcore, 'less ya live it'. http://www.imeem.com/tag/psyopus/music/ The term 'BLOTTED SCIENCE' is a reference to LSD. And, you will certainly feel like you trippin' when you plug into how ludicruously intensely technical this band is. BS has got one guy from Arctopus, but, in my opinion, a much better band because the compositions are far more structured. http://www.imeem.com/tag/blotted%20science/music/ Behold... Mustard Death
Skullgrid is good sometimes. Haven't heard any of their other stuff. Oh, and this might be a looooongshot... but has anyone in this thread heard the Blotted Science album? I ask because it's a group with Ron Jarzombek (Spastic Ink [who, tangy, I seem to remember you digging], ex-Watchtower) and also Charlie Zeleny of Arctopus. I haven't been able to find a reliable torrent of it yet, but am really interested in hearing it. Supposedly it's got a more death metal-ish sound to it, something you don't really hear in Ink or Arctopus.

Sadly, I have yet to buy any. ( I am lame ) I think I recall about Ron Jarzombek playing with Marty Friedman? Would like to check that out too. naturalsciences101
Loooooongshot, huh? The post directly above yours mentions TBS. And, that ain't Turner Broadcasting Systems.
Rush!
This band is awesome. I have both their first album Skullgrid & their incredible EP Nano-Nucleic Cyborg Summoning. I personally enjoy the EP more... it's not as technical as Skullgrid, & it just has more raw emotion IMO. I would probably kill to see this band live. The WARR guitar has a sick, unorthodox sound (or sounds) to it.

No doudt, a seriously crazy instrument. In addition to guitar and bass sounds, the dude from Behold was making it sound like keyboards/synth by detuning the string while playing it when I saw it. The guy is like a mixture of victor wooten and john petrucci.
