I used to never be able to stand the older sister Tia. She reminded me of my older sister who used to kick my ass all the time. Right down to the squinty eyes with WAYYYY too much makeup. I HATED her angry.gif

Besides that, I have 2 uncles in my family who ARE uncle Buck. Sometimes I think I'd like to trade em in for an actual Buck cause he is more responsible.

Tia was played by Jean Louisa Kelly. Years later, we'd see her much softer side when she played beautiful student Rowena Morgan in "Mr. Holland's Opus" and then co-starred on the TV series "Yes Dear."

She played such a hard bitch in "Uncle Buck" that she's almost unrecognizable, but I spotted the connection.

He was great in SCTV... Johnny LaRue.  I just like SCTV anyway, more than Saturday Night Live.

Like that shitbomb '76 Monterey he drove in Uncle Buck.

Planes, trains and automobiles was good, but a ripoff of the 1970 classic "The Out Of Towners" with Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis. yes.gif

I wouldn't call it a rip-off. It's the same genre, yes.

FYI to everyone:

The DVD for Uncle Buck is selling for $5.50 right now at Target.

No special features, nothing inside but the disc, but still a good bargain.

Guess who saw it in Target yesterday and bought it? wink.gif

"The Out Of Towners" ranks high on my list of Most Irritating Movies I Ever Saw. Jack Lemmon's character deserved every bad thing that happened to him, and more. I was hoping that the mugger would slit his throat after taking his watch, just so that the movie would end. Why this was ever a hit, or worse, got remade, eludes me. And I'm a fan of Lemmon.

I hated Uncle Buck the first time I saw it - I was a snot who thought it was beneath me, I guess. Now I watch it every time it's on (and I'm home).

Both of those movies are great, IMO.

That's very self-honest of you to admit... I mean the part about being a movie snob.

For me, the film I refuse to watch because it's "beneath me" is King Ralph with John Goodman. laugh.gif (Actually, there are probably dozens of films which I feel aren't worthy of my attention.) wink.gif
