Acoustic Interlude Idea

I haven't intentionally been trying to think of acoustic interlude replacements for Resist however one hit me on my drive into work today.

First off I just adore Alex and Geddy doing Resist the past two tours. It is incredibly touching/emotional and also makes for a nice tempo change in between sets (plus the Prof gets his much needed break).

However "In the End" happened upon my CD deck and as I listened to it I thought it could be a perfect fit for Geddy & Alex's solo spot.

The start is a real good acoustic fit because it is indeed acoustic. When it breaks out into some heaviness it might require a little rearrangement but still I'd love to hear them perform this.

Whaddaya think?

In The End would work acoustically-I'm a little bored of Resist hope they do something else this tour just to mix it up!

How about Open Secrets or Second Nature. I don't believe that either of these have ever been player live. Another good one that I would love to hear would be Heresy, again never played live before. I don't necessarily think it has to be pre 1980 to work well.

Do you mean perform these as an acoustic bit as the thread title implies? The first two would be a real challenge to pull of on acoustic guitar.

It would be an interesting one to throw in though (regular version of the song) - Open Secrets!

I am all for hearing In the End, acoustic or otherwise....on one condition: that Geddy does not try to hit the same notes he used to. There's NO way he's going to hit the same notes as he did on the ATWAS or FBN versions anymore. That said, if they tone it down, I'm all for it.

"Let's talk about this sensibly, we're not insensitive"... Yes I did mean acoustically. We know they could come up with some acoustic arrangement for these. Plus in my opinion these songs (Open Secrets and Second Nature) are mostly about the lyrics. I just think it would be nice to see them throw in a few that have never seen the light of day live. "I know progress has no paitence, but something's got to give.!

They played Second Nature on the HYF tour, atleast they did in Oklahoma.

Funny, I was listening to ATWAS the other day and played In The End a couple of times. I wouldn't mind hearing it period, as well as Whatcha Doin.

In The End from ATWAS is one of my all time favorites!!!

I would like to see an acoustic arrangement of Losing It. I think they could pull it off. Alex could really fill the space of the violin solo from the mid-section of the song.

Great idea, imo.

Thought of another possibility... Nobody's Hero. This is a valid thread based on the past few tours and I don't mind hearing the acoustic renditions, but I would rather they just canned the acoustic interlude all together. I realize that it is a fun thing for them to do and it does offer a little change of pace as well as a rest for Neil, but I really just want them to rock. 1022.gif

I think it would be neat to have Alex sit down and play Hope, then they can do Presto, then go into Cinderella Man.

That would be a good acoustic set for me...
