islands isnt bad at all, it's just kind of average, especially when compared to their other 70s work

The rest of the album I couldn't really care for aside from those two tracks anyway, they jump out like fcuk. It's almost bizarre to totally slam it though, at least for the production alone.

the production is fine, the songs just aren't there for me. a few years back one of the members of that line-up died, and I wanted to play a song off Islands in his honor on my radio show. I struggled hard to find a song to play, and ended up playing ladies of the road, but i really didn't enjoy playing it at all - lyrically it's pretty awful, and it was the best song i could find on the album. i just really don't like islands at all.

Oh I agree 1000% on all that LotR style, ugh. To be honest Islands was going to be trashed, but then I gave the last two a few more listens and I totally got that "KC hit" which is why I'm defending it somewhat I guess. They're not ranked along with my fave bands by a long way but I can finally see (on the odd occasion) why people go OTT crazy for KC. I know I'm in the minority for not liking any one album especially, just a few gems along the way. Thanks for the reply.

The 14 disc Lark's Tongue is still £100....we wait.

As Bob said, "What is necessary is possible, what we want is expensive. What is unnecessary is unlikely. "

Yes Bob, what I want is necessary, but too f***ing expensive.

We wait...

Patience grasshopper.....it is now £77.78.......we wait.....

I was checking out this footage of 21st century schizoid band with MICHAEL GILES on drums (2002), before Ian Wallace took over (now deceased). Michael is quite a drummer! Neil mentions him as an early influence, and you can hear some of the intricacies in Neil's early progressive playing.

Not to veer off the thread topic, but I just found out there was an official DVD put out last year of the 1994 show in Argentina.

You can order it here: http://www.amazon.com/King-Crimson-Live-Argentina/dp/B007Z1FD7M
