floydfanatic111
I didn't count The Band as their drummer Levon Helm was from Arkansas (the US).
Hatchetaxe&saw
Leonard Cohen or Arcade Fire. Next country please. I should do Ireland but I couldn't be arsed. Anyway, the answer would be Horslips or Rory Gallagher. Edited January 23, 2007 by Hatchetaxe&saw

rushgoober
This one's a bit unfair as it's a RUSH forum! After Rush, I would vote for Joni Mitchell, followed closely behind by Neil Young. No one else on the list really interests me. There was a great Candian band called The Paupers that made two albums in 1967/1968.

PuppetKing2112
You should have left Rush off...you know they're going to get 100%. Out of the rest of yours, all of them suck except Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. And I would have voted for Arcade Fire, if they were on there. What he said I the Hip (Other then Rush) They are the greatest band in Canada. Unfortunately... they have yet to 'break' into the states. Now... if you would excuse me.. I'm going to listen to 'In Violet Light' and 'World Container'. Highly recommend them both... well... WC sounds a little too over produced, very UN-Hip like. But.. I still love it. spirit of radio
QUOTE (invisibleairwaves @ Jan 23 2007, 08:21 PM)The Tragically Hip, for sure (after Rush, who really shouldn't be in this poll IMO). I love Canadian rock. I too love Canadian Rock but in order to be an export you must have a fan base of more than 6 outside of your home country. This theory therefore would eliminate The Tragically Hip. Wake up fellow Canadians...They're not a world class band...i repeat not a world class band And who voted for the Bare Naked Ladies

I have not heard Tragically Hip and I did forget Nickelback, my fault! Triumph is also a great band yet critics called them "the poor man's Rush". Like Rush were from Toronto and were a power trio. Unlike Rush, Triumph were straight ahead hard rock with two lead singers. My faves were: 1)Rush 2)Triumph 3)Neil Young 4)Joni Mitchell 5)Loverboy The fat dude in Barenaked Ladies (Steven Page) sounds like a drunk Jack Bruce when he sings, I just keep thinking where is there an Eric Clapton type guitarist or Ginger Baker type drummer.
