Sad songs.....

Hello Everybody!

Shortly after my Mom died in '92, I made a cassette tape of songs to help me cope with her death. Still today I listen to a bunch of those songs, and a few others that strike the nerve of sadness.

Here is a short setlist...in no particular order...

Rush...Bravado & Nobody's Hero

Chicago...You're the Inspiration, Colour my World & If you leave me now

Phil Collins...Against all Odds

Willie Nelson...Always on my Mind

The Police...EveryBreath you Take

The Bangles...Eternal Flame

38 Special...If I'd been the One

and my final 3

Metallica...Nothing Else Matters

Richard Marx...Right Here Waiting

Journey...Faithfully

During these past 14 years, I've been devastated & heartbroken on the inside. Forgive me, I've only had a couple of good cries. One of these days I'm gonna lose control of my emotions for Mom.

To the author of this thread/topic, I thank you.

Take care my friends.

What, even the Hippy Hippy Shake? biggrin.gif wink.gif

Especially The Hippy Hippy Shake.

Just imagine, the song comes on and you're dying to Shake Your Hips, but you can't(pick a reason), or you want to shake a Hippy(ie) and there are no Hippies around, I would imagine one would find that song rather upsetting..................

That song should be banned!!!

Sting - They Dance Alone

Elvis Costello - Couldn't Call it Unexpected Number 4

Neil Young - Tonight's the NIght (the entire album, not just the song

But, I don't think I'll ever hear anything as sad as the triple gut-punch that concludes Joni Mitchell's Blue album: River, A Case of You and The Last Time I Saw Richard.

If you must bring it up, here's a pretty fine slide show from NME:

Also, just for the forum, "Nobody's Hero" and "The Garden" are painfully honest.
