My wife won't watch this show at all because she thinks it's degrading to women. I agree, but it's such an enjoyable train wreck that I can't help it! The thought of these women fighting over and throwing themselves at this scrawny little unattractive guy with no class (but who is really nice and sweet at heart) is just too outlandish not to watch.

 

I would think that most guys watching this show on SOME level must have at least a SMALL degree of admiration for Flav, at how he's able to get away with this. He's more famous then ever, he's making money, he's getting to be with all kinds of women in front of the whole world, and he's loving it to death. I mean, if ever there was a stereotype of an ultimate male fantasy, this guy is living it. I'm not saying I want his life, no way as it's not me AT ALL, but part of me looks at the guy, and AS a guy, just has to say, "You go, boyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Let me dispell a myth here though. While the premise of the show, so it seems, is for Flav to find his perfect woman to then go off and be with, make no mistake, this show is not for that purpose. I was just talking to a friend today in my own home who is very close with someone who handles casting for the show, and they are presently doing casting of women for season three. You can be sure that no matter who is the last woman standing in the end, there'll be a new set of women to vie for his attention again next season. This show is pulling down some major bucks.

Look, I'm really not trying to make you mad, I'm just trying to understand. All my life I have heard "don't objectify women, treat them with respect, they have brains so acknowledge it, women are capable", etc. For the most part I have found these all of these to be true. But now this crapfest comes along, and people actually seem to be enjoying it! What's worse, in watching the show, they are empowering these bimbos who allow themselves to be degraded! I mean, where's the outrage?! Flava Flav is a disgusting, subhuman pig who should not be a celebrity, but a registered sex offender. These women should be pulling out the pepper spray every time he approaches them!

 

What's a guy like me supposed to do? Suddenly turn around and forget everything I've been told about women and how to treat them? All the time, we hear women's movement spokeswomen talk about how politician X is going to 'set back women 100 years'. Well, wake up, because the bimbos on this show are doing exactly that, and anyone who watches the show is helping them.

 

Call me quaintly old-fashioned, but I prefer to be pissed off over what's happening on this 'show' and I'll celebrate when it's off the air. It's one of the things that's wrong with America.

It stands to reason that these women must sign legal waivers up the wazoo before being subjected to that kind of thing, especially on camera. There is no doubt in my mind that even though yes, it can easily be seen as degrading, it is done with their express permission. Doubtlessly before they film that kind of stuff, everything is explained to them about what will happen and they agree to it on tape and they obviously are given many opportunities to opt out if they're not comfortable with it. Just like in porn - you can't call that sexual harrassment if the person is of legal age and gives their permission. I'm not saying it's wonderful or anything, just that I'm sure it's completely legit. VH1 wouldn't take such insane risks without ample protection.

My gosh. This is just a stupid TV show. One of the most stupid TV shows ever. It's funny. The way watching a drunk in a bar fall off of his barstool is funny. The way seeing a Hummer rear end another Hummer is funny. The way seeing the Jesus fish on the back of the car of the woman who flipped me off on 183 and then cut me off is funny. I apologize to Jack and anyone else who is horrified by us watching this show. It's stupidity on parade and it's fun for me to watch. I'm not looking to enrich my life by watching it. It's just dumb, mind-numbing entertainment. If I took everything and everyone in life seriously, I would loose my mind. I choose to laugh. I can even laugh at myself, sometimes more than I do at others. It's just how I am.
