Do you use the computer for studiowork only?

Which of the Softsynths do you recommend the most? I am looking for some really hard and dirty organsounds.

The keyboard player in my original band uses Native Instruments' B4 for his Hammond sounds. It has one called "Hush" that sounds much like what you are describing.

Hi Zate,

I don't know if this will help, and it's pretty cryptic, but I wrote this down a long time ago to help our bass player learn it, and this is the way it was shown to me. Hope it helps!

Hi Zate,

I love RUSH and I love playing Subdivisions too.

I'm sure you will find the notation from PW_Guitarist helpful.

After you've got the basic chords down just noodle around in the right scale to learn the solo.

At least that's what I do, just play by ear.

You know you've got when it makes you feel good.

Take care and enjoy living in the Limelight,

Cyberdude

I'm currently running...

- Amplification

- Peavey Special 130 Solo Series 300 watt amp
- Old Yamaha Powered Speaker

- Soft Synths

- Arturia ARP 2600
- Arturia Minimoog
- Arturia Moog Modular
- GMedia Minimonsta
- Arturia MTron
- Korg Legacy Collection
- Arturia CS-80

- Computer Programs

- Reason
- Cubase SX

- Midi Controllers

- Fatar/Studiologic SL-161 61 Key
- Cheap 49 Key Radioshack keyboard that functions as a midi controller

- Interfaces

Tascam US-122 Audio/Midi Interface

- Synth Modules

- Roland SH-32. This thing is simply incredible, one of the best VA  synths i've ever played.

All of my Soft Synths are VSTi's in Cubase.

I run my SL-161 through the Tascam into my computer and output from the Tascam in Stereo through my amp + powered speaker.

I run my Radioshack controller through the SH-32 with one output going straight to my amp and one output going through the Tascam.

My set-up is fairly simple and I plan on getting a Minimoog Voyager in the next year.

I'll post pics soon.

Tell me about your rigs!

You've got some great gear there dude.

Got any tunes we can listen to?

Yamaha DX27 through a Midisport UNO into my Mac, using Ableton Live and Garageband. I have a Line6 Toneport, but I don't like it that much.

I am extremely interested in Ableton Live.

How do you use it?

I just resently added the Korg Radias to my Korg Triton Extreme. It sounds cool!  smile.gif

My live setup:

M-Audio Radium 49 keyboard

AMD powered notebook - 2GHz, 1GB RAM

M-Audio 1814 Firewire interface

NI Absynth 2.0

Propellerhead Reason 3.0 - very usefull for making my own sounds using other for basis, it's also very usefull with the keyboard control elements - 9 sliders, 8 knob potentiometers...

and of course that setup is very usefull when you want to try different software instruments, and it's very small-that makes it easy to transport (incl airplanes)

Cool setup. The future lies within the software I think. Although Korg have recently tried to make their keyboards lighter and more transportfriendly with the Radias and M3.

What kind of music do you play?

My main work as keyboardist is with ethno-world-jazz band called Lot-Lorien (from Bulgaria, don't mix us with other bands with similar name wink.gif ). My work in the band is to put some harmonies behind the acoustic instruments to make the sound fuller, also I'm the soundengineer of the band.

I also like your setup, very compact yet powerful.

I have Absynth4 and absolutely love it.

It's my favorite VST.

How do you use it?

Presets or "roll your own"?

Usually I start with some original presets and after few changes I'm ready with few my presets-I try them and compare them to the original, after that I try them with the music and make some other changes...and so on.

Snowman,

Do you have the Triton's sequencer trigger the Radias via midi?

Or have Radias's arps trigger the Triton's sound engine via midi?

Or possibly you play them independently?

Who makes the best drum machines out there? The one I had was built in to my keyboard. I'm just kinda curious who makes them and what they're like. unsure.gif

I just picked up a Korg EMX ElectriTribe.

I absolutely love it.

Much more than a drum machine, it's a complete music production station.

Drum machine, synth, sequencer and fx all rolled into one...

I have Roland D-50, Yamaha DX7, Korg SP-200 and M-Audio Axiom25. D-50 is my favourite synth because you can program (or download) some really interesting digital/analog sounds... Actually very nice for Rush songs! Edited by geX
