I'm currently running...

- Amplification

- Peavey Special 130 Solo Series 300 watt amp
- Old Yamaha Powered Speaker

- Soft Synths

- Arturia ARP 2600
- Arturia Minimoog
- Arturia Moog Modular
- GMedia Minimonsta
- Arturia MTron
- Korg Legacy Collection
- Arturia CS-80

- Computer Programs

- Reason
- Cubase SX

- Midi Controllers

- Fatar/Studiologic SL-161 61 Key
- Cheap 49 Key Radioshack keyboard that functions as a midi controller

- Interfaces

Tascam US-122 Audio/Midi Interface

- Synth Modules

- Roland SH-32. This thing is simply incredible, one of the best VA synths i've ever played.

All of my Soft Synths are VSTi's in Cubase.

I run my SL-161 through the Tascam into my computer and output from the Tascam in Stereo through my amp + powered speaker.

I run my Radioshack controller through the SH-32 with one output going straight to my amp and one output going through the Tascam.

My set-up is fairly simple and I plan on getting a Minimoog Voyager in the next year.

I'll post pics soon.

Tell me about your rigs!

DAYM-DAMN! All I got is a Roland Sh-101(monophonic)moog rogue with a sequencer.

and an Oberheim OB-8 with the DSX sequencer.

I only use virtual instruments but I would love to replace them by the real "monsters" smile.gif

My favourite VSTi are the M-Tron, the NI B4 for hammond sounds, and the Mda epiano for Fender Rhodes sounds.

I tried the Roland V-synth GT yesterday. My good how good sounds it has! And easy to use. I had a Roland D-10 for decades ago and I was very pleased with it. The last 10 years or so I have been a Korg fanatic, but this V-synth sounds very impressive.

It's been 3 weeks now, and I'm still loving and learning all about my new Alesis Fusion. Somehow my original post here a week ago looks like it didn't go through -- good thing, because I was really ecstatic and spouted off a laundry list of all the great features it has. Best $399 I ever spent. cool.gif

Anyway, I think Limeloaf and I are the only Fusion owners here? Lime, be sure to check out the latest instrument to be "ported" into the Fusion: the Moog by kpr. Should make it even sweeter re-creating some classic Rush synth sounds wub.gif

I also got a cheap Squier, and will be getting a decent bass soon. Both going thru a Lineport UX1 to dial in some Lifeson/Lee goodness. Goal is to do all the parts to aboot a dozen Rush synth songs, programming synth parts and drums in MIDI, and recording guitars (and maybe *some* vocals) onto the Fusion's hard disk. That way I'll have instant access to Rush-in-the-box to jam to when the muse strikes.

Songs I'm considering (guitar solos will be the hardest part for me):

Subdivisions (ah, the glory days)

Turn the Page

The Weapon

Red Sector A

Distant Early Warning

Countdown

Big Money (massive project!)

Where's My Thing

Tai Shan

Marathon (vocals a huge challenge)

Ghost of a Chance

Hyperspace

Losing It (synth sub 4 violin solo)

Show Don't Tell

Imitation is the highest form of flattery, right?

Woot, talk about lucky deals! I just put a down payment on the disappearing 88-key Fusion 8HD.... and got a bargain price of $799 for a factory-sealed-in-the-box beastie (its original MSRP was like $2899)! So not only will I have one of the better keybeds around at any price point, but I'll now have 2 identical synths to make big MIDI mixes with. For $1099 I get these features:

16 line level inputs for HD recording

4 inputs for sampling and recording and/or effects

16 outs for mixdown

120GB of storage space for patches, samples, songs

a 61-key synth

an 88-key synth

FM, virtual analog, physical modelling (not so good), sample playback

128 MB of RAM (upgradeable to 768MB total for $99 x 4)

The soundsets include good drumsets, classic FM sounds like the electric pianos and, thanks to respected and long-established Hollow Sun and kpr sound developers as well as user-contributed sounds, sample libraries/waveforms from vintage Moog, Oberheim, Prophet, Roland, Korg, Yamaha, Waldorf, ARP, Mellotron, and even Casio and Speak n Spell... the rompler capability isn't limited to the onboard RAM like the Fantom/Motif/M3 workstations, since the Fusion has an internal hard-disk to read user-made multisamples from.

The weakest points of my workstations are its effects and having a linear sequencer instead of a pattern- or step-based sequencer, although it can loop sections for some pattern-like composing. Not really an issue either, considering I'll be doing some sequencing from the PC anyway.

Not bad for under $1200.... *does the happy dance* 653.gif

Hi, I haven't been to the Rush Forum in a while and I feel selfish for coming back just to ask a question but I didn't know who to ask. unsure.gif

Anyway, what exactly are the main differences between the Korg TR88 and the Korg Triton Extreme 88? I'm looking to save up to buy one of these.

Choco, just doing a quick bit of research on the net, it seems the main differences are that the Extreme has more features than the original TR workstation --

more sounds

more polyphony

dual voice engines

the Tube

CD-R

Has anyone checked out this new Moog? The Voyager OS (Old School):

What I have read about it is that it is exactly like the old mini moog, except that it has digital outputs.

Not much of a pro or anything, but I play a little keyboards.

Keyboards:

Yamaha YPT-210

Casio Casiotone MT-520 (don't use anymore)

I also use GarageBand at my school for my Rush medley projects.

Looking into getting the Moog Little Phatty someday..... if I can get some cash!

This is nice!

I sold in my Korg Extreme and Radias and got the Korg M3, expanded with the Radias card. It sounds awesome and it is so fun to play with the Karma technology.

I would like to have one of them moogs as well though.

Im bored, so I thought I would list my MIDI controllers and Softsynths:

Edirol PCR-80, 61 Keys

M-Audio Keystation 49e, 49 Keys Duh!

Softsynths:

Arturia Minimoog

M-Tron

Crystal

ARP

Running on Garageband on my Mac Mini.

I have a great Subdivisions sound, for garageband users.

Cant remember the precise preset name, but I change the modulation on my 49e because it stays in one place. not an annoying pedal. A bit of Chorus, and a bit of reverb

Sounds good.
