GeddyRulz
Who knows of, has read, or likes "The Borribles." It was a cool fantasy-inspired book that was published in the UK in the late 1970s, and eventually developed a cult following in the US. (Maybe some of you Brits know about it.) It appeals to fans of "Watership Down" and "Lord of the Rings," thanks to its fantasy quest theme. The Borribles are rebellious misfit children who've run away from home and have joined a band of street urchins who have pointed ears, a culture unique to them, and an ambiguous moral code. The steal to eat, live in deserted London buildings, fight with slingshots, and quote Borrible proverbs like "Don't get caught" and "If a Borrible don't look alive, he's soon dead." Their enemies are the Rumbles, large rodent-like creatures who fight with spear-like weapons, and the police's Special Borrible Group, who seek to capture the Borribles, clip their ears, and turn them back into normal children. It's a cool book, and had two (lesser) sequels - a trilogy. Any fans? Brits? Americans? Edited June 15, 2006 by GeddyRulz
