Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis, aka Gandalf and Gollum in the "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, will lend their voices for Flushed Away, while "X-Men" series and Van Helsing star Hugh Jackman is in early talks to join them.

The film is a new comedy from stop-motion animation powerhouse Aardman Animation (Chicken Run) and DreamWorks Animation. The claymation feature tells the story of an uptown British rat who is flushed down the toilet from his penthouse apartment into the sewers of London, where he has to learn a whole new way of life.

McKellen voices the story's antagonist, a villainous frog, while Serkis plays his hench-rat, Spike. Jackman, who worked together with McKellen on the "X-Men" movies, would play Roddy, the pampered rat.

Henry Anderson, David Bowers and Sam Fell are directing from a script by Dick Clement and Ian LaFrenais.
