Ancient Ways
QUOTE (joanneeeeee @ Mar 13 2008, 11:41 AM) http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii200/joanneeee/Myride.jpg This was my ride. Now I have a nice cruiser, no hills in Florida and it's great for my abs. Try hauling that with the kid in it on a windy day, niiiiiice workout there are plenty of hills in Florida. I rode in the Hilly Hundred last fall and I was probably barely breaking 6-7 mph near the top of a few of them. That ride is in eastern pasco county and southern sumter county near Dade City/Zephyrhills. I also understand they have some nice ones around the Mount Dora area north of Orlando. I got in a quick 22 mile ride this evening on the Suncoast Trail in pasco near Land O'Lakes. Very windy.

ReflectedLight
Any trail riders here? Offroading? If you're thinking about buying a bike in 2009, you might want to think about buying now. I heard the prices of bikes for 2009 are going up 20-25%. Edited July 17, 2008 by hope70
Ancient Ways
got in 28 miles this morning before it got too hot or the thunderstorms started. Solo, averaged 16.2 mph. About 17 of the miles were on roads with 11 on the trail here. I had to park near a McDonalds and a van coming towards me ran their stop sign as I was turning left after stopping for my sign. I did end up dropping the bike on the pavement but I was able to stategically hop off and avoid stepping on the bike. I looked at her and she was wearing cycling clothes and had bikes in the car. You would think that a fellow cyclist would know better. Did she stop? Nope. Just yelled sorry out the window and kept going while I'm standing there picking up the bike and tring to avoid getting hit by someone else. I hear ya dude. You have to take a bus to get anywhere near a park or a trail to ride your bike near where I live. Stupid city!

Si seniorita, I think there were 2 shots, in 'shot a' the bike is on a trail seemingly riding itself, 'shot b' has the bike standing on a rocky shoreline of Canada's Great Slave Lake. I can't WAIT to get riding!!

MrHands
QUOTE (alphseeker @ May 6 2009, 10:48 PM) SRAM VS. DURA-ACE VS. CAMPY any thoughts, favorites on components? It's been a few years since I've been on the bike, so my opinion may be dated. My Tomassini has downtube shifters... I've ridden Dura Ace, and my current ride has Campagnolo Record. In my humble opinion, Dura Ace was the best deal going. The quality & performance was unsurpassed for the price. Shifting was crisp & precise, and the brake levers were as smooth as a baby's bottom. My Campy, on the other hand (remember my group is 18 years old) is a pleasure to look at - the machining is top notch - but doesn't perform as well. Campy just had gotten into 'indexed' shifting; the precision wasn't there, and there was NO comparison in the performance of the brake levers. I have no experience with Sram, other than cassette cogs - whick are good. My $.02...for what it's worth.

It's a tap-double-tap thingy to shift up and down.

Disco
Here's my road bike, it's a 2008 Cannondale Synapse Carbon 105 and it is S-WEEEEET. It was a massive step up from anything I've had before. It's fantastically light and bascially rides itself. It ooozes class as you ride it. Before I rode it I always thought the chaps whizzing past me on their fancy bikes must be far fitter and stronger than me as a pottered along on my mountain bike. No, the bikes are just that much more sleek. It's downside is it loves smooth tarmac and you suffer a bit if you're cycling over the potholed rubbish that are the roads in London. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3617/3523094060_071b0c0096_b.jpg Edited May 11, 2009 by Disco
