and you call cloning: a drum set....a band symbol and a style of playing...a tribute?

maybe i don't know what is a tribute?

to me a real tribute is learning techniques and admiring the music...but with your own style...

this is definitely not the case of DT and expecially Portnoy...

maybe that is the only thing he can have "like" Peart...

I can see why DT fans think Rush fans are snobby. He's not trying to rip the guy off or anything. It's his tribute to him.

I am starting to see how they think that also. If I ever act like that please smack me up side the head, there's no sense in that shit. no.gif

Portnoy needs some of those to add to his Neil Copy kit. No one would ever say one bad thing about him ever if he did that.

Sun Wu Kong is pretty cool. biggrin.gif

I hope you have some idea from where this photo is from. I am pretty sure that photo was from the Drum Pads Anniversary show. The setlist for those interested reportedly consisted of:

2112 (whole song)

CYGNUS X-1: BOOK 1

CYGNUS X-1: BOOK 2: HEMISPHERES

YYZ

This will likely be released on Ytsejam records in the near future.

From the Portnoy site, check out who else played at this gig! Truly a who's who of drummers.

You didn't think you'd be able to start a thread and have everyone come in and blindly suck the band's dick, did you?

I should clarify that only the "cygnus" portion of the show could be released on ytsejam records, which is the label which releases live and obscure DT and DT related material. I would love to get a copy of the whole show, and if I do ,I will certainly let you know.

I've been addicted to Octavarium since last June. Everytime I listen to it I find myself listening to songs repeatedly. Wish they were coming through KC.
