To Each his own, I guess.

Like Rush, or any other recording artist(s) Dream Theater is an aquired taste. Though it applies alot, not every Rush fan is a DT fan.

Me Personally I can't get enough of DT!!

Does anyone like Systematic Chaos?

It f***ing kicks ass. Just as solid as Awake (my favourite) and nearly as classic.

Awake is now my favorite also. That album flows so great as a whole. It could have done without Lifting Shadows Off A Dream. It's a quality song!

ph34r.gif dazed025.gif ohmy.gif You take that back!! Lifting Shadows Off A Dream is my favourite off of the album!

When i first started getting into DT I liked them so much more then i do now..i still love them and think they are all insane musicians...but to me all their music sounds the same and it doesnt leave a lasting effect on me like rush music has always done.

You can play a song in the middle of one of DTs crazy ass solos and i wouldnt be able to tell it apart from anything else they do really.

it sounds like crazy solo after crazy solo..after crazy solo.

Yeah, ok, thanks for stopping by. sarcasm.gif

Rush fans...

Dream Theater play with emotion, dont understand the claim that because there super tallented and they play like it, that equates to no emotion.

Dream Theaters songs dont all sound the same, every album is different from any other.

Dream Theater has not a thing to do with Rush so why talk about them like you feel threatened by them so much you feel its necessary to defend Rush everytime DT gets mentioned. confused13.gif

Right on, Tick!

We have to be understanding, though. I think it's safe to say a lot of people's minds have capacity issues when it comes to appreciating DT, which is sad. Does "crazy solo" or "crazy ass solo" mean you can't comprehend it and would never be able to play it as a musician? I've noticed one thing in common with musicians who hate Dream Theater: They cannot even attempt to learn their music so they pretend to disrespect them. There's been some speculation these types secretly have the entire DT catalog stashed in their bottom drawer like porn.

I listen to DT for very diffrent reasons than I listen to Rush, and I listen to DT for some of the same reasons I listen to Rush. But still they are 2 very diffrent bands. You will always get argument when you compare bands (any two bands), which is really unfair to good music.

Please treat DT as it's own band.

I love dream theaters ( images and words ) and consider that one of my all time fav , prog rock , metal albums of all time .

However , they seem quite boring to watch live . I still think they are great , just not a great live band .

So which of you established DT fanatics (I'm a casual fan with about 6 albums) will be buying this new compilation album?

for me , it depends on how many un-released track's are on it

I will definitely buy it!

I am over the top with joy over the news that DT will be playing in VANCOUVER on May 6th. YIPPEE!!! They've never been to BC before. I've seen them twice in Seattle in '03 and '04, that's the closest. Before that it had been 8 years since they'd been to Seattle.
