Pags
I must get a post in on the classic of all classics. The Cyclone. This ride has left me with bruises, and has convinced me that I was going to smack down on the pavement or go flailing through the wooden supports as it just tries it's hardest to get rid of you. My buddy once had his balls smashed into the lap bar on the second drop, and for those who know this coaster you know exactly what I'm talking about. The angle of decent changes midway through the hill, and your body literally launches out of the seat. My friend left his seat, and made contact with the bar in the worst place. Yewwwww!!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/paganoman/Cyclone02.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/paganoman/Cyclone03.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/paganoman/Cyclone01.jpg

Rush!
I do not like rollercoasters. It's as simple as that. I know this will be weird because I probably will never see you people in person but I think I have guts coming on here and saying I don't like them. Being the 'odd man out'. Dude... it's fine if you don't like them and say so. To me, coasters are the greatest man made things in existence. 2nd are suspension bridges. circumstantial tree
I used to love riding coasters, but now many rides scare me. I'm afraid some machine malfunction will occur and I'll either die or my mind will regress to that of a twelve year old.
pedro2112
What a completely despressing thread. I don't think there is human being on earth that loves rollercoasters more than I. Unfortunately, I met, fell in love and married a woman that can't stand them. I took her to Cedar Point for a vacation back before we had the kids. I got her to go on the two lamest wooden coasters in the park, and she told me it almost killed her. Since that time (back in 95), the only "coasters" I've ridden were Big Thunder at Disney (not exactly a thriller) and I went on Ninja at Six Flags over St. Louis (only because of massive pleading on my part). I would contribute my left testicle to be able to go back to Cedar Point.

bardan
So does this mean a TRF meet-up at an amusement park is in the near future? I think Cedar Point would make a great meet-up place. Great park, awesome coasters, hotels with a beach on the lake and Put-In Bay is right across the lake.

Arndrake
So far, the only amusement parks I have been to are Great America back in '88 and Magic Mountain in '93. I don't recall going on any significant coasters at Great America, but I do remember doing the Ninja and the Colossus at Magic Mountain. I have to admit the overhead track and hanging seats style of the Ninja was intense. Colossus was quite good as a woodie. I may have also ridden the Viper. The corkscrews on that one are cool. Flashback was a brand new one that year, so the lines for it were long. The back and forth effect of that one didn't really impress me anyway. I'm not sure if I could still ride coasters anymore. Thrill rides at the state fair now make me feel a little nauseous, which bums me out because I always loved them.

I never been to cedar point but I guess from what I hear it has some bad ass roller coasters. I've been to Kings Island in Southern Ohio though andthey have some good ones there. kazzman
Heh, ok whatever you do, DO NOT take a job working at an amusment park for the summer. Trust me, it ruins the magic of a coaster, especially if you operated one every day. And due to popular belief, it IS NOT the coolest job ever...
