chemistry1973 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 I used to think that was on Different Stages. It’s pretty great, with Lifeson emoting at the end. Pretty close to magical. But THIS: Made the hairs on my arm stand up! 1
BlairC45 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Yours was pretty good chemistry1973, but I feel this is one I've always liked. I love the feel of Alex's playing at the end of the song. 2
Principled Man Posted September 10 Posted September 10 The Rush in Rio performance is still my favorite. 2
78jazz Posted September 10 Posted September 10 I need to go back and listen again, but if memory serves right the next night in Providence had an even better solo from Alex (I have been meaning to do a speed correction of the Rushian Nor'easter Category III version of this recording so maybe this is my excuse). Alex also had some nights on the VT tour where he just CRUSHED that outro solo. See Tampa as an excellent example. Overall, I think the CP tour had the best performances of this song. Too bad it wasn't played for the entire tour. 2
TheGhostRider Posted September 10 Posted September 10 (edited) My favorite version is the one they played the opening night of the Vapor Trails tour. It has a charm that is hard to beat. Sadly we only have this bootleg video but I did my best to restore it using AI (best I can do without a copy of the original tape) and I synced it to a really good audience recording of the show. 78jazz Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I'll add/ask this: I don't suppose anyone has the St. Louis '91 video that has had the soundboard audio synced to it? I have the video and the audio, but not the version where they are put together. 1
Brava Doh! Posted September 11 Posted September 11 My favourite version is the 1991 MSG New York bootleg version. There are actually two versions of that show (12/7/91 off the top of my head). The soundboard is very nice for that show but on the audience recording you can actually hear some drum subtleties in the end jam part after the final chorus—mostly hi-hat work—I have never heard on any other version. Very ear catching through the noise that generally is an aud version of a song. 2

This one doesn't swing as well as that one to me as they were still finding their groove. 1
