treeduck Posted September 1 Posted September 1 I think this interview proves that she's more of a heavy metal drummer now and thus proving once and for all that RUSH are metal! 2 4

They're not nearly as prog as a lot of snooty progophiles think they are. "You listen to pop music?" " How gauche." Edited September 1 by BastillePark 2
WonderDude Posted September 1 Posted September 1 I still wanna hear from her about how she felt when you fumbled the drum stick on her very first song (Xanadu) live with this band of the very first night of this tour. I know she recovered excellently. But I just wanna hear how she felt when that happened.
Lurkst Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Really great interview. Stuck it on for a few minutes and ended up sitting through it all Sounds like she's already making her own plans for next year. You need to make the most of witnessing this ensemble, it's unlikely to be a long term project. 1
thizzellewashington Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Hard not to like her personally in addition to the amazing job she's doing in this gig. 2

You need to make the most of witnessing this ensemble, it's unlikely to be a long term project. Even if Rush had plans to record and/or tour after the 2027 leg is complete, they probably wouldn't do anything right away. They'd almost certainly take a break and be in a reflect and re-assess mode for awhile, which would give Anika plenty of time to do her own thing. My gut tells me this tour will be it for Rush. Even if they record some new music, I can't see it being a full album, and I can't see them doing another big tour in support of it. I get the feeling Geddy and Alex are feeling extremely fortunate that they were able to get out there for one more tour while they still had a little gas left in the tank. I think they'll count their blessings and call it a day, at least as far as touring. Some new music with Anika contributing would be interesting, though. 5
WY Man Posted September 1 Posted September 1 HI ANIKA!!! I caught you and the "Boys" at the Forum on June 7th! The show of a lifetime!!! 2
Principled Man Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Nilles = /NIL-ess/ I am saddened by the many, many people who can't (or won't) pronounce her last name properly. It's easy to pronounce. The double-L makes it easy. fill, sill, mill, will .... NILL-ess 3

JCW555VT Posted September 1 Posted September 1 I've seen people misspell Geddy's name as "Getty" so many times. And good luck trying to remember how to spell Alex's actual last name without looking it up lol 1 1

HemiBeers Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Really wish there was a way to cattle prod interviewers when they babble on and on. Shut up dude....it's her interview. Ask a question....shut up....ask a question....shut up. Not that hard. 2

Yes the phonetics, spelling relation in English are crazy, say compared to the direct, logical Slavic languages. For example. Edited September 2 by condemned2bfree 1
condemned2bfree Posted September 2 Posted September 2 She is great. I'm so happy the guys got out there one more time. Seemed like there was unfinished business from the tour before, especially with Ged. 2

It seems like there's too much smoke around the Sphere run for it not to happen. Maybe back half of next year or even 2028. I wouldn't mind if they waited a little bit and took a break. If they go right from the Europe dates into that, I worry about them burning themselves out or just over-exposing themselves and over-touring. They're obviously still in incredible shape and could still do it in a year. Not a bad idea to lay low for a bit after this tour is over and reassess. Not holding my breath for new music and initially when they announced the tour I was totally against the idea of releasing new music under the "Rush" name with no Neil. But I'm so all-in on Anika and have so much respect for her talent and creativity and she's clearly fitting so well with the boys both musically and personally, that she feels like a part of the band and not just a hired gun. So I'd be into it if they decided to. But that's a pretty big commitment. 1

They're not obligated to a record company, so they could do it at their own pace. The question mark is whether Anika would want to do that or retreat into her comfort zone. Bands don't make shit on records anymore, so it would purely be a vanity project. 2
HemiBeers Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Interesting that she felt heavy grief after Jeff (Chef) Beck died shortly after his tour. Similar to the way the guys felt after Neil. 3
