I expect Cleveland will still get Moving Pictures for the second night! What I'm quickly becoming more interested in since I originally started this thread is what they are going to decide for the single night cities. As for Aimee Mann, she herself said she'd be in Cleveland, right? I think at this point it's clear they had her come to Toronto to film at least one performance with her for the Blu-ray, but I wouldn't rule out her still appearing in Cleveland and/or some other cities along the way if it fits her schedule. Yes, that is a good point. I was assuming that, at least according to Aimee, that they might film in Cleveland as well. And if they were filming, I was then wondering if they would not do that full MP set and do Setlist 4 or something else for the second night. Ok, I'll just quit thinking complicated things and bask in the moment definitely! 1

If I had my way I would drop CTTH, Tom Sawyer, Limelight, SOR and Limelight to make room for more of these cuts. I am thrilled that I got to hear Xanadu, Analog Kid, A Passage to Bangkok, Anthem, 2112 (in full) The Trees, La Villa Strangiato (haven’t seen that live since I was 8 in 2011) so far. I am hoping to catch AFTK, Red Sector A, DEW, New World Man, Natural Science, Dreamline, and Bytor on my upcoming shows. I would be thrilled if I could get at least half of that list. Songs I hope to see on my last 4 shows of this tour (Hollywood and Tampa) Leave That Thing Alone The Analog Kid Anthem A Farewell To Kings New World Man A Passage To Bangkok I have seen everything else at my first two show in Fort Worth. And I don’t really care about CTTH lol. That was played to death from 83-02. Had enough of that tune. It’s just a whatever Rush song….yet TSOR, TS and Limelight still it hard in all they’re brilliance. But that’s just me. 1

Limelight and The Spirit of Radio remain personal favourites of mine and I was sad that Limelight was sidelined for the R40 Tour after only being sporadically played on the Clockwork Angels Tour. Closer to the Heart, however, is the least essential for me of the "hits" as it were. I'll never get tired of the others, whereas Closer To The Heart is one I'd happily keep dropping in favour of something else. The only time I really enjoyed it was on the Time Machine Tour and that was mostly because the little pirate shanty final verse genuinely caught me off guard.

In the very same post she acknowledged that she is still in Toronto, so they must be staying there for this little gap between Montreal and Boston. Could there be another song in the pipeline to tighten up and add to the rotation? Perhaps one that was on the chopping block back in the early rehearsals? I kind of expected that for the 2027 shows they'd swap a song or two, but her post is definitely interesting. Could be Marathon perhaps? I think in the solo/bridge section there's quintuplets. I think there's still a chance some of the cut songs could be brought back for the Europe/South America shows or the Sphere ones. From what I've seen, The Necromancer, Marathon, Mal Nar, and a vapor trails/test for echo song got cut? Now that I think about it, seeing The Necromancer at Sphere would be a transcedent experience......
Lurkst Posted September 15 Posted September 15 They seem to have settled into the same two night variation save for a couple of rotations. My only slight gripe is that the shows are different lengths. Only a few minutes but a bit annoying when fans are paying so much for tickets.

I am hyped that night 2 is heavily leaning to now always include AFTK. I have desperately wanted to see that on the tour. If the Cleveland shows follow the same pattern, I think my odds are very good of getting to hear it.

I can see the band maybe playing Mal Nar or The Necromancer later into the US tour or on the European tour. I don't see them learning any other songs unless a second American leg is scheduled for 2028. And I doubt a second leg would happen given that they have continued adding shows now, not later. Personally it does hurt a little to see PW get shafted again. It was not represented at all on R40, after it was featured so heavily on Clockwork Angels (which I missed sadly). I'm not surprised that Caress of Steel will probably not be represented again, since it was barely featured on R40 and dropped permanently on every other tour. The same for TFE after R30. James Bond Posted September 15 Author Posted September 15 Now that they've settled into the two night rotations, I personally think they could mix it up even more on the "full 2112" evenings. For example, I love Animate and was happy to get it, but there's no reason that it can't be rotated for a lesser played tune from the master list here and there. Same with Red Barchetta. That one will get played on the Moving Pictures night anyway, so mix it up. Maybe give the 2112 nights a chance at The Camera Eye or something (much like the original "night four" set). And play The Pass more! It just seems that all the rotating is left to the first set, whereas the second set is fairly static at this point. Which is fine, of course, but I do think there is a chance to play around with it more. 2

Could actually be that color cause they were trying to go for that gold anodized pickguard look of the early 50s era Fender guitars/basses…but yeah, I ain’t a fan of it myself. Plain or aged white would’ve looked better IMO but it’s his bass so…lol 1

James Bond Posted October 2 Author Posted October 2 That's a solid overall set list! I wonder if that pattern will hold for all the single night cities.

Interesting, so Set list 2 was identical to my second show in Ft Worth, but Set list 1 had 4 unique songs for Ft Worth. Pretty cool. I am a little disappointed to not have my "unique" setlist anymore, but I still have some super rare (so far at least) songs that were rotated out at the latest shows.

I had a surprising amount of repeats in Montreal to the original "Set A" by getting Natural Science moved the first set despite the obvious "Set B" format of the latter half. By then, La Villa Strangiato was becoming the "de facto" instrumental with Leave That Thing Alone getting played less (works for me). The set lists are almost becoming anyone's guess at this point, which is quite a bit of fun. 1

I got the full 2112 three times (no complaints there lol) but then I got Finding My Way as the encore three times in a row, and I was sick of that song by my third show, I ended up walking out and leaving early when they played it. Thankfully my last show had a ton of variety and rare setlist songs along with Bytor as the encore, so that made up for it. Only thing I was disappointed about was not getting to hear The Garden. it was only played at one Ft Worth Show that I didn't attend, and it was not played in San Antonio or Houston. Lurkst Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) I'm surprised at how little they are playing Natural Science, it was absolutely phenomenal (Toronto #1). Edited October 2 by Lurkst 1

Perhaps the near trainwreck in Montreal scared them away. I'm sure it'll return. I think we were all ready to say The Pass had been sidelined after the fourth Toronto show and then it finally reappeared. Distant Early Warning suffered a similar fate for a while.
