Timbale Posted July 4 Posted July 4 (edited) So, I was making a Rush playlist with songs that my wife likes (she is a recent convert due to seeing them in LA on the new tour), and it made me go through every record, including, for me, the not-oft-thought-about Feedback. So I listened to it all the way through, probably for the first time since it came out...and I felt very much the way I felt about it at the time. I totally understand what they were going for, and they did a good job in terms of representing the era of music that they were very initially inspired by as they formed. But as a listening experience...it just doesn't do a lot for me. I mean, there are some bar band standards on there that I never need to hear covered by anyone ever again. (Crossroads and The Seeker, I'm lookin' at you...) But it got me thinking how cool it would be (and I know it's essentially an impossibility) for them to do a sequel album, where they cover things that inspired them as they were going along. We all know how much Rush changed along the way, and that they were sponges for the music around them. So...I'd like to see other peoples' Part IIs. It can be with Lee/Lifeson/Peart in mind, or it can be the current touring lineup. This is mine - I kept it to 8 tracks to mirror the "EP" nature of the original... 1. Heart Of The Sunrise - Yes 2. Relay - The Who 3. 21st Century Schizoid Man - King Crimson 4. The Great Curve - Talking Heads 5. The Ocean - Led Zeppelin 6. Dancing With Tears In My Eyes - Ultravox 7. Watcher Of The Skies - Genesis (or, if Loren is in the lineup, perhaps Firth Of Fifth!) 8. Spirits In The Material World - The Police Edited July 4 by Timbale 1

And just to confuse things they reveal that it's a different song altogether but with the same title? Like say Cut to the Chase!

It’s quite possible. I kind of ignored the 90s-2000s in my list because I don’t really dig that stuff, but there could be a number of grunge bands and newer metal on there for sure. Knowing what a Devo fan Geddy is, I would add them. Alex name-checks Pink Floyd in the doc. 1

Some fun live performances came out of it, but the recording itself is so blah. The arrangements are boring and NP just goes through the motions. 1
