I have to say, Anika sounds great, Ged sounds great, Alex sounds great, the keyboard "parts" in this song are distracting LOL

Of course follow the links above, but if not and looking around on You Tube with lots of recordings being posted, the CBC logo gets you the best recordings I am seeing.

Edit, Echelons Above is also very good, has a different (better?) filter for the sound, the drums sounds more forward.

Alex was the star of the show there, Geddy's voice sounds ok, better than the R40 tour but not stellar. I hope it doesn't go to shit with all those tour dates. Overall it sounded better than I expected. Curious they chose a Rutsey number though, I guess it was all in the title of the song.

That backing away from the mic to take advantage of full volume to try to hit those high notes . . . that could wear him down.  Long ago someone posted about how he shouldn't sort of waste his voice on extending notes like that or trying to match the original too closely.

Well, she is prettier than Neil, but that's about it.

Neil was lousy at Rutsey songs. Too choppy

Geddy's voice is barely okay compared to the last time we heard it, but it's not good at all, especially compared to his heyday. You people are listening with your hearts instead of your ears. The rest of it was awesome.

Well, I am more than happy I got to see that in person. I expected full "yodel" from Geddy so I was pleasantly surprised at his control. I reckon he'll be totally fine on the standards. Finding My Way! What a surprise. Anika was excellent. Yeah - not. Neil song, but it was very cohesive. She clearly has the groove with the band.

100% agree with this. I love Rush fans but sentimentality often gets in the way. I'm still excited for the tour but will be realistic in my expectations

It was a very challenging choice, Geddy was struggling to sing Finding My Way by the 1980s

I'll reserve judgement until I've heard how he tackles the less extreme vocals.

If choppy is infinitely better, then yep.  :)    Me love some choppy.  Used to say how great the original album would have been with Neil.  No reason to listen to it after ATWAS.

For a SEVENTY TWO year old Geddy Lee to be able to still sing Finding My Way in it's ORIGINAL f***ing KEY is a feat that can only be described as otherworldly. Seriously they sound so unbelieveably tight and almost like they never went away. I also love the fact that Ged is starting to incorporate more of that slapping and popping type of bass playing that had been missing since since the GUP/Power Windows era, really makes me wonder if this new tour is going to incorporate more songs from that era. God I f***ing hope....

Great way to say WE:RRRRRRREEEE BAAAAAACK!

Put this in the set list (if Geddy's voice can handle a tour of this)

Anika was rock solid, not expecting anything less. Not like a full La Villa, but she'll do fine.

Keyboard player was.....um.....trying to look busy.

Great sound for a stupid awards show. Usually live acts sound like crap.

Audience was a bunch of polite, reserved, jaded Canadiens.

I'm excited for the whole new bass showcase he started to try out during R40.

Is Geddy Singing falsetto on this? Maybe that's the answer to get to the high bits. He never needed falsetto before.

This was a fantastic way to kick off this next chapter. The band sounded GREAT across the board with Geddy’s vocals being a stand out IMO.

I think there’s real poetry in them taking it ALL the way back to start again. A song that Neil didn’t play on seems very appropriate. Finding their way indeed. Welcome back, RUSH!!!

They seem to have cleaned up their sound overall, much less compression on the guitars and Alex seems to have got his balls fully back in place too.

It sounds like he's kinda gone back to using head voice like he was before Time Machine. This is probably the closest he's sounded to the Snakes and Arrows-era in a long long while.
