I saw on Canadian news CBC and Rush Is A Band, that Alex and Geddy will make an appearance at the Juno awards. I hope it's a performance with all three of them.

In 1975, the band won the Juno for most promising group, and won group of the year back-to-back in '78 and '79. Rush has won 10 Junos in total, including the inaugural Juno Award for best hard rock/metal album in 1991 for its 13th album, Presto (CBC).

Presto is definitely the heaviest album of 1991

Especially when it came out in '89! They likely meant RTB...which reminds me of Jethro Tull winning the metal Grammy in '87...

1989:  Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental - Jethro Tull !  Crest of a Knave!

The first and last band to win such a prestigious award!  Ian Anderson didn’t even bother to attend, as he didn’t expect it to win anything!

The Junos were in March 91 so RTB wouldn't have been released.

I remember buying Nothingface by Voivod around the same time as Presto in 1989 and it was nominated too.

What a happy surprise since I will be there. I will report back.

The "surprise" has to be a performance, no? Otherwise, why make a big deal about it?

Certainly must be. I'm a big Arkells fan, whom are also performing on the show tonight. Well their front man Max posted an Instagram clip, talking about what its like to prep for a TV event rather than just a straight up gig. He mentioned tonight will be a full on celebration of Canadian music past and present, and very specifically mentioned a "heavily NDA'd surprise" to kick off the show, saying no one would even tell him who it was.

If you're going to watch tonight, sounds like you should tune in right at 8 PM !!

That's what I'm hoping, but I note they refer to Geddy and Alex only. I'm wondering if they'll announce plans are in place to record new material? 🤷‍♂️

I suppose as they are "officially" Rush.

I did also notice that Geddy, while at the Friday Jays game, was not at yesterday's (I always look for him). Coincidence, perhaps, but maybe they thought they better run through The Spirit Of Radio a few extra times. ;)

Moving Pictures lost Album of the Year to Loverboy's self-titled debut and the year before that Permanent Waves lost to Anne Murray's Greatest Hits. I never forgave the Junos after that. 😁

Literally in tears as they played that! Goosebumps. The whole deal really did NOT expect to react that way. Was that Maiah Wynne in the front row?

I especially like they didn’t hide the keyboard player, even though his participation was minimal. Some bands hide “extra” members.

whenni saw the blu ray of Black Sabbath: The End I was floored when they introduced the band and a keyboard player emerged out of the darkness literally.

Choosing Finding My Way is a bit of a flex. Sounded far better than I expected! Looks like the 10 years off did Geddy's voice a world of good.

And HOW! Imagine Ged trying to sing that a decade ago…I’d bet against it ever happening.

Well that caught me by surprise! Incredibly brave song for Geddy to attempt to pull off in front of an audience of millions
Good choice to ease Anika into the fold though. Again fair play to her agreeing to being revealed in such a high profile fashion

Challenging as it was, a great choice of song for many reasons
