TheAnarchist2112 Posted March 5 Posted March 5 What do we think they'll open the show with? I think Spirit is a likely choice but also Time Stand Still or Clockwork Angels would be fantastic, maybe even headlong flight!!
Brava Doh! Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Not clockwork angels, they did that a couple of times in R40 and abandoned that quickly. Too soft of an intro and first part. same with time stand still. Love the song but it would blow as an opener, period. for this tour, ten years out from their last one, expect a familiar opener…2112 and temples, spirit, Tom Sawyer, something that’s a signature song. 2

Wonderful... maybe Headlong Flight as set 2 opener? I'm so excited to see songs from Clockwork Angels live, it's my favorite album

James Bond Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I think we'll see a very "play it safe" opener after so much time away - something to get the crowd going and say "we're back" in one energetic opening. I'd put money on The Spirit of Radio. Granted, I think Far Cry would be a stellar opener. 1

Far Cry, then Headlong Flight, then something classic to open the second set would be a nice bit. 1

I think Far Cry, being nearly two decades old at this point, is enough of a "modern classic" among the fandom and certainly has the gravitas to be the opener. Follow it up with the sustained energy of Headlong Flight, and then go right into one of the classics (Spirit or Limelight perhaps). You've got me dreaming.

thizzellewashington Posted March 5 Posted March 5 My choice would be "One Little Victory." Let Anika really make an entrance and announce herself from the first moment of the set. 3

Far Cry is now an older song than Finding My Way was when they brought it back for the Roll The Bones tour 4
XanaD.E.W. Posted March 9 Posted March 9 (edited) Overture/Syrinx (album is 50 years old, and it is the 50something Tour, you know) Edited March 9 by XanaD.E.W. 1

dtpoet Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I expect an instrumental medley similar to R30. Just the three of them settling into a groove while saving the vocals. Get some of the older songs out of the way. I would love (certainly don’t expect it) for the medley to end with Necromancer: Return Of The Prince but take the effects off and have it be Neil’s true voice that does the narration. Ahh…a guy can dream. 3
TexMike Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Personally, I would love to see them open with YYZ. Come out kicking ass right off the bat (with the usual lasers behind it) and give Annika an early chance to shine. It would get the audience pumped up immediately and also give Geddy a chance to get warmed up on bass before he starts singing. Then follow it with Limelight and Spirit before digging into the deeper cuts. 2
yyz305 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Maxi - out of left field. High Water - drummer, dragging it out with the keyboard eventually doing the same. Ged and Al soon joining in - cruising in to settle in vocally and musically... NOBODY would see THAT coming!

The tour, her introduction, its all One Little Victory! However that said, I'm sure they'll start with something Bigger and Safe. 2112 Overture/ Temples, The Spirit of Radio, or Limelight are my choices. OMG can you imagine that crowd in LA? The lights go down, everyone starts cheering than 2112 Overture begins! It would be Epic! Edited March 13 by losingit2k 1
James Bond Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Geddy has talked heavily about what the Taylor Hawkins shows meant for him and Alex, and those, of course, opened with 2112. Perhaps they'll carry that forward. I think Overture/Temples would be a smashing way to announce "we're back." 2

grep Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I'm going with TSOR or Subdivisions as openers. Also, with this new band lineup there is no way in hell they aren't playing LVS nightly. Just my prediction. 1

I hope LVS is in the set, at least on a rotational basis - it could have fit right in in the R40 rotations.. 2
losingit2k Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Its either going to be Limelight or The Spirit of Radio IMHO! 1
