It’s very very different.

Listen with headphones.

Thanks to a pal, I just heard the entire track. The reactions are going to be...interesting.

Two things that immediately jumped out for me: the vocals are much wetter, and Alex is more up front during the choruses.

The snare gets super boomy in the chorus too. Kinda weird but I dig it.

Wow this is the best thing I’ve heard since they remastered Presto on sascd

Terry finally remixing this it’s like the revival of JFK!

there is also a taste of kid gloves live below on the list of songs.

I cannot wait to March 13th, I am sorry

I will take a pill to wake up until then..bye

I guess what I need to do is go back and listen to the OG version and then compare; I didn't hear a lot of difference, but it did sound great. Having said that, I often don't hear what many better listeners do, and I listen to live versions so often, I've probably just forgotten what the '84 version sounded like.

That video/visualization is some low-effort screensaver nonsense, though. No narrative sense, no build, nothing. I get they're not going to invest millions is reshooting a whole thing, but that was tedious. I did appreciate the recurrence of the threes, though: three bombs dropping, three sheep on the hillside, etc.

Great song.

Is this whole album remix going to be Terry trying to make up with Alex for what he did to Alex on Signals?

Less back and forth panning on the guitars was the first thing I noticed. Seems more "classic" in a way being mixed like this. Without headphones, I don't hear much difference on the bass. A little quieter, perhaps.

The drums in the chorus are quite jarring, but I dig it.

Snare is definitely more prevalent, Slight ping pong delays on Geddy's vocals more prevelant in the intro, Alex's guitar absolutely more up front in the mix, Keyboard sequencing during the chorus lowered down slightly so Alex's guitar is more upfront.

Also noticed the bass pedals or bass notes on the keys thicker.

I am really gonna dig listening to all the other tunes to hear the subtle differences.

Neils snare is the biggest difference on DEW plus the fade out at the very end is kepy up in the mix so you hear some studio kinda chatter....listen with headphones for sure to pick the minute details.

It’s an intriguing take. For Signals Brown said he didn’t really have an ear for keyboards and warned they’d push Lifeson out a bit in the mix but as you say, he had control of the mix for Signals so he could have corrected it.

I gotta say, having the synth bass be more up front in the mix during the keyboard parts really makes it sound like the way that DEW would sound when performed live.

This sounds very similar to Signals in almost every way.

I kind of understand now why Terry Brown wasn't there for some of these albums... the synths give much more life to these songs - it's really just background noise listening to this mix.

The only improvement from what I am hearing is the drums

That remains to be heard……I am going to give it another few listens and compare to the original mix.

Ok……listened to both mixes.

Terry Browns mix is more dry, has more punch on the guitars, bass pedal/bass synth and Neils snare is far more prominent and dry not nearly as wet of a mix.

The keys are absolutely toned down in the mix….it’s going to be super interesting to hear the entire album.

I am excited to say the least.

- keyboards

+ everything else

should've been that way on the original.

I’m going to withhold judgement until I hear the whole record…but I’ve always dug the guitars being panned for different parts like they are at the top of DEW in the original mix.  We shall see…

Sounds great.  I was hoping for the alternate intro though. Otherwise - yeah - nice job.
