fraroc Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) I always found that both of these live albums are almost like distant siblings to one another given that they both follow the premise of it being dedicated to live versions of popular tracks from the last few studio releases rather than a full concert. Nova Carmina Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Alive II seems like peak KISS. What's odd even to myself about ASoH, is that though I love the synth '80s, the live album that capped that decade is a disappointment somehow. I listened to GUP and PoW more than any other Rush studio albums, and I've probably listened to ASoH less than any of the first Big 4 live albums (the ones that came out "on schedule" after four studio albums each). So it's Alive II for me, even if it was barely live.

I dont know why, but it seems like the Power Windows tour Witch Hunts had less power than the GUP tour ones, which was like being hit in the face with a wall of synths during the verse-to-chorus transition, hence why the definitive version of that song for me is still GUP Live. Blue J Posted February 16 Posted February 16 I don't hate Kiss- their first four records are really good I think. But live Rush up against live Kiss? Rush every time. Twice on Sundays.
