FlowerbedPiano Posted February 11 Posted February 11 (edited) I am extremely excited to announce that my "RUSH FOR SOLO PIANO" YouTube project (on my Flowerbed Music channel) is soon to be available as a limited edition VINYL LP. I am also very proud that HUGH SYME, the legendary artist of all Rush's album covers since 1975's "Caress Of Steel", has produced utterly stunning artwork for the front and back covers as well as the labels. The man who has enabled this to happen is STEVE BROWN, the amazing guitarist with Rush tribute band, 'Moving Pictures' and founder of RUSHFest Convention in Scotland. He has already produced several releases (not least the multi-volume 'Songs For Neil' compilation series) whose proceeds have all gone to Funding Neuro (the registered charity which raises funds for developing cures and treatments of neurological diseases and cancers). Any Rush fan will obviously understand the motivation for that. I'm honoured to have been approached and invited by Steve to be the next release in the catalogue (with of course all proceeds from my album going to Funding Neuro too). So, RUSH FOR SOLO PIANO The Album... is on it way. All the tracks have been fully remastered by Steve and sound magnificent to my ears. Hugh's art is all done. Next up, hopefully, it all goes off to print and press! I'll provide an update as soon as the release date starts to look imminent! Watch this space!! Edited February 11 by FlowerbedPiano 7

1-0-0-1-0-0-1 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 You'd know those were Hugh Syme covers just from looking at them. How did you hook up with him on this? 2
FlowerbedPiano Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 (edited) Hi Admin.... GREAT question because the answer requires me to outline the story of the album itself. Steve Brown is the founder of RUSHFest Scotland and the producer/overseer of several albums of Rush music covered by bands and artists entitled 'Songs For Neil' (Volume VII of that will be on its way later in the year). Steve has worked with Hugh Syme many times as Hugh provided artwork for all the aforementioned albums (all proceeds going to cancer charities so no doubt Hugh was delighted to be a part of that, especially due to the nature of Neil's death). So when it came to Steve saying that he loved my piano arrangement of Closer To The Heart, that he'd be delighted to produce an 'Rush For Solo Piano' album if I was happy to be on board with that (to which I responded with a huge thumbs up!!) and that it would be the next release in the RUSHFest Scotland catalogue, he also added that Hugh would be very likely to do the artwork for it. So began several weeks of communications between Steve, Hugh and myself and the development of visual options he had to offer for front cover, back cover and labels. It's been a joy to be firing messages back and forth with the man himself. That certain late evening, whenever it was, when Hugh sent me (as an email attachment) artwork with my name on it for the first time was a huge buzz. I'm sure Mike Portnoy must've felt the same when he saw the first Dream Theater artwork by Hugh Syme with DT's name on it. The whole thing has been, and continues to be, a great privilege as well as a huge surprise. The proofs look astounding (to me) in the flesh so I CAN'T WAIT to hold a copy of the LP in my hands with Hugh's artwork in satin finish. Edited February 12 by FlowerbedPiano 3

There is a fine community of very talented musicians and composers here at TRF. We're generally pretty supportive of each other. 2
FlowerbedPiano Posted March 24 Author Posted March 24 The print of the front cover for 'Rush For Solo Piano'.... https://ibb.co/9mpbzFF6 1
Bahamas Posted March 25 Posted March 25 On vinyl, wow! I will look more into this, this week, I missed your earlier post, very glad I saw it tonight. I will be glad to contribute. I love the artwork connection with Test For Echo and a completely obscure chance of an animal maybe playing piano, even though it's old and looks rather forgotten. And the hope (?) of new sounds to be played? Honestly, this reminds me of 2112 and "Discovery" artwork but obviously in a very way and how an instrument can still be discovered...testing for acceptance in the background. Congratulations FlowerbedPiano. How very cool it is 1

Então, RUSH FOR SOLO PIANO The Album... está a caminho. Fiquem ligados!! I’ve already ordered mine — the vinyl and the digital version. 1
Jag2112 Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Impressive. Any chance you might release a CD version as well? 2

FlowerbedPiano Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago (edited) My original effort a few days ago, at a YouTube Short for this, began with 'Available Now'...like a trailer on TV circa 1979 (when 'Available Now' or rather 'Coming Soon' on screen, to begin with, used to work a treat, but not nowadays ha ha!). People just swipe away don't they? Anyways, please do check this out, it's less than a minute long... Edited 22 hours ago by FlowerbedPiano
