This one doesn't feel must-have to me.  It was an alternate during the CA tour IIRC, and my stop for sure didn't have it.

I have mixed feelings here because it's a "hit," it feels like it'd be automatic enough for them to pull off and selfishly, I love it.

But I did get it at one of my CA shows and I remember being weirdly underwhelmed by it. I was excited because it's a favorite of mine and I'd gone two shows without seeing it and it just did nothing for me. It was alternating with Manhattan Project with the string ensemble, which I saw on the previous leg and thought was magnificent, and Dreamline felt much more like an obligation.

I always found it odd they would switch between such a commonly played song and one that hadn't been played for decades.

Maybe the band weighed them similarly with regard to time on stage with the strings, how much they enjoyed playing each song, etc. Because the counter to your point is that, maybe we didn't see Manhattan Project for so long because they didn't enjoy it that much.

Personally I'm with you though, I thought it was stunning on that tour

I was just thinking about that rumor, I think it was the Snakes & Arrows Your.

It wasn't a rumor.  Geddy stated they tried several older songs including "A Farewell to Kings" but he couldn't sing it "without physically hurting himself" so they dropped it.

Yeah, we got the Manhattan Project, and not only was it my 1st time hearing it live, it had it with the string section, which made it the ultimate live version IMO.  So I was quite glad not to have heard Dreamline.

The only downside is that it meant I didn't get Middletown Dreams, which is one of my fav's by them period.  I could have gone to a later show on the leg a few hours away, but not being sure if it would fall properly in the rotation (even though I counted and it appeared it would), I didn't want to risk the time and expense.  So of course that show did end up having Middletown Dreams!  Ah well.

There should be a law that in order to perform in every city, both Manhattan Project AND Middletown Dreams MUST be performed in their entirety...including the proper "Show of Hands" ending of Manhattan Project that they for some reason dropped the last time they played it.

I saw them 3 times on the CA tour so got em both.

Dreamline to me is a signature Rush song and like you selfishly one of my favorites. I expect to 100% hear it on the upcoming tour.

New Geddy interview with Rolling Stone makes it seem like there will be a pretty significant amount of night-to-night variation https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/geddy-lee-rush-baseball-blue-jays-world-series-1235458034/

I don’t really want to give our set list away because we are learning at the moment our set list contains over 38 songs, because we plan on changing the set every night. There will be a large percentage of songs that we will switch between nights. So if you come to say four shows in Toronto, you’re going to hear four different sets. That’s going to include a lot of songs, obviously. They are obviously the big favorites that you sort of have to have in the set list every night. But we really want to keep the set fresh. And right now, I’m working on five different sets for the shows. So we’re going to move things around quite a bit and have a lot of fun, and hopefully that’ll keep Alex and I fresh.

You'll also be filing for insolvency

Interesting he said there was a video shoot the day after the 18 inning game. Tour films being created already?

This will totally drive me crazy when I see a deep cut favourite in the rotation for the night before or after I see the band myself. 😐

I hope the recording folks have their A game going! Many of us will be relying on you to hear a favourite or two we miss live I’m sure.

I wonder how many songs will actually be A/B in the setlist.  With the batch of new dates for new cities it is probably a way to goose more ticket sales for 2nd night in the same city.

I also wonder how much of the rigidity concerning the set list in the past was due to Neil’s input.

Welp I have night 1,2 in both Fort Worth and Hollywood so it will be interesting!

Now that Geddy said 38 songs in that Rolling Stone article I will have to update my list.

"At least" 38 songs, still plenty of time to rehearse more

I agree, They still have time to learn more songs even create new ones. I hope they release something New! Like they did before the Time Machine Tour with Caravan/ BU2B.  Anything New, Even if its an Instrumental would be nice!
