A Rushcon is planned for Toronto, August 8, 2026

Announcement on the Rushcon page - one is planned for August 8th in Toronto! I know that some here enjoy them, some don't but thought I would post the info.

"The Time Is Now Again!
For years, we’ve talked (and dreamed) about what it would take for us to bring RushCon back. The reason had to be special, had to be timed just right. And most importantly, It had to feel right. 

Then Monday morning happened. The news dropped. Rush is officially hitting the road again.

We looked at each other and thought… we can’t NOT be part of this, right? The answer was a loud, resounding YES.  RushCon is BACK. Toronto August 8, 2026. Smack dab between two Rush shows.

Stay tuned to our socials and sign up for our email list for all the details as they roll out. (No, Geddy and Alex will not be in attendance. We wish!)"

I have never looked at the RushCon website. Wow!

And thank you blueschica and all who are preparing this. If we are down for the concert, and it looks very likely as we have set up the Rush.com ticket sale pre-order business, it would be great to meet others. I have never been in schedule-sync with earlier Cons but always wanted to be there.

 

Has a venue been chosen? Is it a secret until more folks come on board? Now that more dates in Toronto are set, might the date change? I am thinking about concert goers listening to those who already attended vs. those still to attend and not wanting spoilers and such.

The main woman behind Rushcon, a woman named Jill (ive never met her)  is really good about conveying information and keeping the group up to date!  I would guess that they are still working on a venue if one hasnt been announced yet, but I dont know for sure?  Glad to hear you are thinking of attending!  That would be my dream, but a few things in my life right now mean I cant take too much time away so it looks like Mr. blues and I will be doing NYC because it's a bit quicker for us with the train.

Yes, her name is Jillian Maryonovich- I talked to her a couple of times, several years back. She was the main mouthpiece for the RushCon coverage in the Time Stand Still docu-pic about the R40 Tour.

Henderson's is doing their annual Rush Day on Saturday the 8th as well. There will be no shortage of Rush things going on, that's for sure.

Have tickets for the August 13th concert. Not sure how long we can stay away, or arrive a few days earlier, but it's early days yet. What a great combination of events!

The only other time I ever did a "harbour tour" on a ferry at the Toronto waterfront was high school graduation, maybe 1986, when NTCI did a "booze cruise" and it was very messy  

Time Stand Still is so much about the Rushcon idea. I can only hope next year's will be well attended.

Rush has probably the second biggest following next to the Grateful Dead. You would think there would be gatherings and things like that. You have to look for them though.

I strongly feel like we should boycott this event given Jillian's absolutley disgusting and blatantly ageist comments about younger Rush fans attending the Fifty Something Tour during the live last night. Yeah, I'm still not over it.

Sorry that not every Rush fan is a miserable old Boomer/Gen-X bitch like you, and I already know what your response is going to be, "oH WhaT do YoU kNOW You'RE jUSt A StUpiD mIllEniAL YoU Don'T kNOW aNytHInG ABouT tHE WoRLD EveN ThougH YouRE LiTERallY 30. Yeah, I was a bit surprised when she said that.  It's one thing to believe that a younger fan won't appreciate the show as much, but her borderline hostile attitude towards it was a little over the top.

 

I've taken my 8 year old son to see a show on the "Vapor Trails" tour, my 11 year old to see a show on the "Time Machine" tour and, when these two were 22 and 17 respectively, we went to see R40.  Yes, I recognized that these moments meant much more to me but they wanted to go see Rush and I paid for the tickets.

I watched a good part of that YouTube live last night and she really turned me off. She just kept saying she didn’t know how she felt about it, she had this miserable look on her face, and I felt like if she wasn’t gonna be all in she shouldn’t have been on camera. And judging from a lot of the comments that were flying in the thread, I wasn’t the only one. She was a total downer. I get the mixed feelings. But I also am not interested in raining on anyone’s parade and that’s what she was doing.

she’s entitled to her opinion, but I didn’t think it was appropriate given it was opening night and it was an arena full of people who were going out of their minds with happiness to be there.

I just think people can say what they want (including Jillian), and it is what it is.

 

The music and the whole show experience is what it's about, we all know that. At the end of the day (and night) that's the only thing that truly matters. And how awesome it is that they're going out and doing this again.

Guess I missed all the drama….I stayed unspoiled for my first show…..glad I did. 
 

I have not seen the controversial comments made by Jillian…..sorry to hear the negativity surrounding whatever she said. 
 

Curious what was said because I took my now 21 year old son to his First Rush show at 5 and then he had the chance to meet Geddy and Alex at age 6 in 2011 and they loved him. We saw R40 together when he was 10….and he remembers several songs from that. Especially Jacob’s Ladder because he knew that was a bucket list song for his pops!
 

21 now and he got to see Rush as adult knowing every fill and note and every single song and he was in tears…..he is an incredible drummer himself and Neil was his main influence as Alex was mine…..sharing music with your children is critical to keeping the spirit of that music alive for generations to come. 
 

I don’t know what was said but music is the universal language and knows no barriers of entry….at all.

I’m late to this conversation, but that’s disappointing that such a longtime fan has such a negative attitude towards fans my age. There’s a reason why my generation has flocked to rock music from the 1970’s and 1980’s. Because it’s 10x better than the “modern” music that is put out now. I’ve never understood the whole gatekeeping mentality that people like her have. My dad was so happy that i loved Rush and 80’s music as much as he does, since that was the music he grew up on. If I remember correctly, Jill came off as very snarky and opinionated in the Time Stand Still documentary, so it doesn’t surprise me that she has this weird and negative attitude towards fans younger fans.

This journey means a lot. Before Toronto, I'm making a stop in Cleveland (any one from there?!) — I couldn't come all this way without seeing the city where Rush first became known worldwide, and I'll be visiting the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame museum. Then it's on to Toronto, where I'll be staying almost 10 days.

For 15+ years I've run Portal Rush Brasil (Instagram: @portalrushbrasil), sharing this band with fans across the country. Back in 2010, I even covered Rush's show in Brazil for MTV. Over the years I've connected virtually with the band's production manager and I sometimes chat with David Calcano, who handles part of the band's creative side. Now I'm launching my Zine — the desktop version is already pre-built and just needs a few final adjustments, but I'd gladly send a preview link to anyone who's curious. The Zine is packed with interactive stuff — games, activities and exclusive content — released in three languages: English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Yeah, I want to go to RushCon on August 8th. I've connected virtually with some wonderful people @therushcast, Jillian included, and finally meeting some of you in person would make this trip awesome.

Keeping with a more positive note, watching interviews with the three actors of the opening tour movie, some of them will be in Toronto for RushCon.

Also interesting to hear their perspectives on how the movie was made, how detailed and professional everybody was - how Geddy was very particular about some scenes...hmmmm, who knew?

It's a great intro movie, as you probably know, but all live recorded with only green screens for the flying owl and to L'il Rush (?), the first scene filmed last, the last scenes filmed first.

Not a bad way to spend an hour hearing these young people share a joy for Rush.
