JoãoCarvalho Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 Half a century after dividing critics and audiences, Caress of Steel returns to the spotlight in the pages of the Toronto Star, one of the most important newspapers in the world and in Rush's hometown https://rushbrasil.com/en/toronto-star-relembra-caress-of-steel/
treeduck Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 I can visualise what they must have said: "Caress of Steel, the heavy metal smorgasbord of 1975!" 1

Bahamas Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 I've just returned from southern Ontario and at one point, sitting at a friend's patio with morning coffee and sharing the Star I grabbed at a gas station (after exiting the Temagami/North Bay area for 14 days canoeing), I see the Culture section front page cover showing part of the COS album. What?!! It reminded me of the huge entire right side page advertisement in the same paper for the R40 tour. The article, written by Hayden Godfrey "Special to the Star", Saturday August 9, page C6 and C7 (but with a half page realtor ad) has lots of repeated info and general cultural opinions of our favourite band. I think the general aspect was that the rumoured album is now reaching 50 years of age and the band is still being celebrated. But, I loved the first paragraph under the heading The last laugh. "Rush had been - and still is - a punching bag for a certain segment of the critical class, who are quick to dismiss them as self-indulgent, hyperactive poindexters who spend too much time inventing three new time signatures before a 12-minute song's first chorus, and not enough time cranking out Zeppelin-adjacent radio hits." I chuckled and my friend could not relate, not being a fan. I saved the article and can look at it now, after my return home. Oh, if only Neil could see such nostalgia still being printed in main stream media. 3
Lurkst Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 Have always loved this album and it's still in my top 10, low down but still in there. 1

I'm curious, why do you re-quote other members comments in Portuguese, when they're initially posted in English? Edited August 20, 2025 by RushFanForever 2
