Laurabw Posted March 16 Posted March 16 I didn't even know he had the same thing as Neil. Life really sucks sometimes. That poor family 12

chemistry1973 Posted March 16 Posted March 16 What the f. The same disease. It’s supposed to be a one in a million type of brain cancer. Absolutely horrible news. Morbid I know, but it makes me wonder about glioblastoma and how much we actually know. When Gord Downey passed I wondered if there were environmental factors that led to developing this type of brain cancer. There was nothing I could find. All we seem to know is that most cases are not hereditary and that DNA mutations contribute to this disease. 7

blueschica Posted March 17 Posted March 17 This is really sad. What a lot for the family to deal with. RIP. 3

It's like in Pennsylvania, I think, Tug McGraw died from it and some other baseball players who played there too. There's so much research being done but it seems like there's so much more work to do. 4
invisible airwave Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Just saw this on Consequence of Sound's website. So forking sad. RIP F cancer. 1 1

exiled yorkie Posted March 21 Posted March 21 So sad.. As a trained scientist with a Ph.D in Environmental Analytical Chemistry with emphasis on the monitoring of the bioaccumulation of organometallic toxins in the marine food chain, I'm 100% convinced environmental exposures do contribute significantly to increasing incidents of cancers and other diseases. Also all the shit that is put in American food is a huge contributor as well. I worrying for North America and the world with the deregulation of all this with the current administration. You might say Canada has nothing to do with US. However any environmental deregulation by the US has a significant effect on its neighbours and the rest of the world 5 1
Bahamas Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Sending support and best wishes from northern Ontario. I didn't know he was sick. And I can only reflect on the references to family from Neil's books and the chuckles and growing-up stories and the family visits on so many road trips. So sorry to hear the news and sincere condolences to the Peart household and family friends. 2
condemned2bfree Posted March 22 Posted March 22 How utterly heart breaking for the family, their mother in particular. . Only solace that can be gained, and it's pretty hard to reason sometimes, is that Neil lived his life to the full when he could. Thoughts go out to the Peart family. 2

Reading Neil's books gave me an insight into that, his life was very full lived and he squeezed everything out of it, even during and after his tragedies. 2
jamie Posted March 25 Posted March 25 When Neil passed, myself and other Rush fans donated to the Glioblastoma foundation. Consider donating to a good cause. 3
